Needing a hosting company for my websites, I contacted FatCow but was pawned off to ipower.com, apparently a sister company. ipower was paid to transfer my website files and to host my sites. They failed to copy all of the files which resulted in my websites not being able to work. For 3 days ipower sent tech support tickets claiming they were fixing the problem. On the third day, I hired 3 separate and independent webmasters to look at the website files and literally within minutes they ascertained that the site could never run correctly as it was missing several files. I spent over 20 hours on the phone pleading and begging to get my sites up and running. They "claimed" they could not connect me to a supervisor and every tech support person I reached seemed to know nothing about the case which meant I had to explain the whole story in detail over and over and over again.
A separate issue but one still important is that at no time did the email system ever work. The first day I tried to at least get that functioning but after no business for 3 days, the no email became a secondary problem. Getting my websites up and running was the major concern.
I canceled my hosting service and asked for a refund. ipower advertises a 30 day money back guarantee. I paid $511.50 to ipower to copy my files and host my two websites. After many attempts to contact billing -- the computer phone menu claims button #3 connects to billing but actually connects to tech support AS NO BUTTON connects to billing.
Finally, they sent an email stating they issued a refund. They would not confirm how much of a refund. I checked my bank statements to find I received a refund of $119.00. I called to talk to billing but ended up with tech again -- I asked for a supervisor but they claimed they could not transfer the call. The Tech,,,, actually, I called and talked to several techs asking for a full refund,,,,but was told, their policy was to issue a partial refund only.
Despite the fact I truly lost sales revenue for 3 days due to their error, despite the fact I had to hire webmasters to check the web files they were supposed to copy and despite the fact that I had to hire a webmaster to rebuild my websites, ipower made money on this debacle while I did nothing wrong, except purchasing their service, I lost a significant amount of money and endured 3 days of stress.
This is not how a company with integrity should do business. Companies should not be rewarded and make profits despite their errors while the customer loses money due to their negligence and incompetence.
If you need reliable hosting, ipower is not for you. If you wish to deal with a company that offers good customer service, ipower is not for you.
