Myself and two other people ate at Jack in the Box. We had fries, tacos, a sourdough jack, and drinks. The next day all three of us were vomiting, we had diarrhea, and stomach cramps. We reported them to the Health Department and they are conducting an investigation. I would advise people to not eat there. They also have a bad history of serving bad food. Also if you have been sick from eating there or any where report it ASAP to the Department of Health. Don't let them get away with it, someone else might get sick.

Poor Quality?

AUTHOR: Omega_Recon - (United States of America)

Hi Jenn. I read your complaint about JITB, and how you and your friends were ill after eating there. I've worked for Jack for over 5 years. I'm sorry to hear that you and your friends were I'll after eating there. I don't work at the location that you visited, but I apologize for the incident.

You said in your paragraph that they have a history of serving bad food. If that's the case, why would you even go there, or go for a return visit? Would you catch Gordon Ramsay going back to the same restaurant that served him a pile of inedible food? No. Use better judgement please. If the food isn't good, don't return. There is also a 1.800# that you can call to let the management know as well as their area coach.

Not all JITB's are the same. Some have excellent standards because they might be a training store. When you're a training store, your standards are so much higher. Try locating one of these stores, and give them another try. If you refuse to go back to the store where you got ill , you're sending a message that they aren't worth it. Other ppl do the same thing. If enough ppl give up on the store, that store will eventually close down.

Again, as an employee, I'm sorry that you got I'll, and that you'll give us another chance.

if my memory is correct wasnt it Jack in the Box that had all that trouble with people getting very sick a few years ago. If i recall it was so bad that people wernet sure if Jack in the Box would even stay open for business.
They may have strict guidlines as all restruants do but they also have a bad rep for food that makes people sick.

Soon after you ate at JITB, how many cases of beer did you and your buddies consume? Or was it fifths of Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, Southern Comfort, etc.? Any sane person would have a bellyache and start upchucking, too.

Of course, you saved your indisputable proof from a medical provider that you had food poisoning and weren't just suffering from a gigantic hangover, didn't you?

I only have one question, to Jenn:

AUTHOR: Ken - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, May 14, 2006

If J-I-T-B has, in your own words, "a bad history of serving bad food", WHY did you go there? And please don't use the old excuse "it was the only place around". Covina has a bunch of eateries.

Now, I don't condone any lack of care that may have contributed to your illnesses (it seems clear, certainly, with three of you getting sick), but it's almost like you were just daring J-I-T-B to do something wrong.

I truly hope you are all well. Good luck.

JACK screws you over

I was a Jack employee in Tumwater, Wa 8471. I was fired for supposedly taking 110.00 dollers. While I was working there for 4 months the manager Tracy was very rude and did not treat me like an employee. Other employees would schedule days off but tracy would never grant them and if she did it was on the wrong day. She would yell at the customers if they took to long or if they had a complaint. The pay there is 7.63 and you are lucky to work 20 hours a week. I am banished from the property after being fired for the missing money. I called the ethics hotline and they are going to send my complaint up the chain.

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Just because they have strict guidelines to follow doesn't mean they always follow them...

AUTHOR: Hollie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, April 02, 2005

I used to be a shift leader for jack in the box, I usually did drive through while someone else worked in the kitchen... and yes there are minimum holding times for food but no, the employees don't always follow the rules... there is a timer at the menu so when a car pulls up to order the timer starts, when the car pulls away from the pickup window that is when the timer finally stops.

When I worked there the maximum average speed of service allowed was 3:30, but some things took over 3 minutes to cook, and some customers took over 3 minutes to order. Any time the average time was substantially above 3:30 (which was a lot, especially on graveyard because people are undecided and don't realize the preview menu has everything on it and you don't have to pull up to the speaker till you're ready) I/employees would get bitched at by the manager no matter how long people took to order or how many things that they added on at the window (a very stressfull job) so some people would keep things longer because they didn't want to get in trouble for waisted food or they want to bring up their speed of service.

Another thing, all of the condiments and lettuce, mayo and such things for the sandwiches are kept in plastic tubs which are supposed to have a holding timer, I was constantly trying to set the timer for them when the tub was put in but the other employee I worked with would turn off all of the timers during graveyard because she didn't want to be bothered with the beeping(she would even turn off the timers on my end like for the handwash ect.. which irritated me very much), so every morning they would all be set to the same time reguardless of when they had been actually taken out of the fridge, I am sure the jack in the box I worked at was not the only one not following all of the rules... Also, I reciently went there for my bf and I needed to make a deposit, but first I needed to sign the back of my check, so I asked the girl at Jack in the box if I could use a pen real quick while I was waiting for my food, she must have thought I was going to f**k up her speed of service because she told me she didn't have one... which I knew had to have been a lie because how could she have done HACCP?(the book that they keep all the temps of everything in, has to be done 3 times a day) I don't eat there anymore... Not to mention all of their fried food is cooked in hydrogenated oil and I gained over 40lbs working there in less than 2 years, not to mention the health problems.

Jack is not to blame

AUTHOR: K - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, June 28, 2003

I am sorry you had a problem with your food, however Jack in the Box has a very strong policy on the preparation of food. They must keep records on when food is cooked and have very strict policies on holding times for the food. It is unlikely that their food was the cause of your discomfort. ( Did you see a Dr. and had food poisoning diagnosed?) The Jack in the Box fast food chain has the strictest food testing and handeling policy of any other fast food company. I hope in the future you will again give "Jack" a try
