I would stay away from John Casablancas!!! They're horrible people!! They have an agency attached to their modeling school but you can only be apart of the agency if you take their classes first. Even after you finish your classes (if your teacher shows up to teach at all that is), you're technically a part of the agency but they rarely call. They use the same 10 people over and over for all the "jobs" they get, which is mostly mannequin modeling in local malls anyways.

How pathetic!! For them to tell a 5'4" girl who's 30lbs overweight that she can be a runway model is beyond wrong!! They get your hopes and dreams up and then crush them as soon as they pry your money out of your hands. Stay far, far, FAAAAAR away from them!

Wrong!

Okay. For one, I have gone through the schooling and it was well worth the money. The instructors were always there on time, they did amazing at what they showed you. They taught you what was expected. It was a lot of fun.

Also, I auditioned for other modeling schools / agencies in the past and they said they couldn't use me. That there would be no way for them to promote me for anything based on my size. I am 5'9" and 185 lbs. Size 11 jeans. I went to John Casablancas and they taught me how to dress attractively use my size to an advantage. I have currently done Run Way for Deb, promotional for Shopko, Freeze modeling, print work for a local photography studio, and much more. When you audition, they tell you to write down 5 questions for when you go for a call back. That is where you should write down all the questions and concerns. They tell you up front that not everyone will get a job through MTM. You need the write pictures on a comp card or laser shot. THAT'S KEY! You also need to know what you're good at. If you don't believe that you have what it takes to be a model or actor/actress. DON'T SPEND THE MONEY! I still talk with the "classmates" I graduated (All sizes, shapes, heights, color, etc) and all of them have gotten atleast one job. And we graduated less than a year ago. If you have rotten feelings about the school. Keep them to your self. Because not everything you say is true about the school.

schools and agencies.

Plain and simple it is ILLEGAL to run an agency that is also considered a school. An agent can only collect money from a client if they book that individual a job, period. They can not LEGALLY run an acting school attached to their agency. Either way, and agent, or a school, is NOT going to make you a star. If you feel there's an easy way to get "famous", you're best bet is to get caught robbing a bank. Performers (whether it be acting, modeling, singing, dancing) spend YEARS honing their craft. It takes hard work and dedication to make yourself professional-worthy. Most of the "talent" that goes to this school couldn't tell you who Stanislavski was, or who Brecht was. Chekhov? Stella Adler? Sanford Meisner? If you think memorizing a monologue that has been done a billion times before for an agent is going to get you the "job of a lifetime", you are sorely mistaken. You need to go out and read plays, read books on technique, see as many movies and plays as you can, meet local actors in your area and NETWORK. You need to treat yourself as a business, and as an artist. Most people who claim to be actors do not have this drive. Most do acting for a short time, and move on to other things because it is not a guaranteed life. If you are a kid, and you book yourself a popular sitcom, forget about going to the mall with your friends. Forget about regular school. Forget about playing high school sports. Forget about a regular life. If you are a parent, and this is what you want for your kids, because you know you can get them to make a pretty penny....(which they can't touch until they're 18 anyway because of the coogan account laws) then you will have a hard time believing JC's.

John Casablancas is NOT a scam

Okay, first of all, I am 5'9 weighing 110 lbs. I am part of John Casablancas in Brookfield Wisconsin, and I am getting offered work..They are nothing but nice people.. and they DO NOT promise you work ALL the time, if ever, they just get you started in your modeling career. You can branch out and find another agency. so your 5'4, and 30 lbs. overweight? look at the media, and the models.. almost ALL of them are skinny and taller.. Its just the kind of looks that clients want. I didnt even graduate to the agency yet, and I get a chance to audition in a huge fashion show for MTM agency, and have also been offered different jobs in the past!

Attitude is everything, So, you arent getting any work, try harder, clothing catalogues use models of all shapes and sizes! Sometimes, girls just go through John Casablancas to boost self confidence, and make new friends, and get experience! It is not a scam, and everyone there is helpful, and loving. They have never lied to anyone that i know of, or misled anyone. They give you training to become a model, and so clients will book you, the modeling career is all about rejection, you have to be able to handle that, and they train you to handle it! Im sorry if you are not getting any work, try another agency if you are not happy with them!
