A written contract from this guy is not worth the paper it's on. He does have some skills and makes a good first impression, but he oversold his capabilities, and his work habits and attitude were horrible.

He started a hardwood floor repair at my home but did not finish it. He told me the reason the repair job looked so bad was because I bought the wrong flooring. He told me he had a friend through whom he could get right flooring, and he would locate it and come back to finish. He insisted on being paid for the incomplete job because, he said, I was at fault. I believed him, and I paid him.

He never called back or returned calls. I had another contractor look at the floor and he said Winters didnt know what he was doing. The second contractor said the wood I bought is fine, and explained several techniques that he would use to produce a better result. For example, he said he would take the planks out back to the seam and cut the rough edges with a saw, and not with a chisel.
