on04-28-2011 i went on judge mathis for over two hours i was groomed by prodcer on how to present my case.then all the sudden every thing changed and i was told to forget what we just spent two hours going over. he now wanted me to get right to the point skipping all the back ground. this was very confusing.after looking back i beleive i was set up to lose.earlier the producer told me how important it was for the judge to see the hole pitcher.now every thing was being rushed to the exstint they almost sent me out without a microphone.and my evidence file i had to turn around and go back to get.iwas told i would have all the time needed once in the court room but that was a lie i didnt even have time to open files before the judge enterd i was told i would have at least 10 minutes to get files ready.then the judge told me to present my case and the circus began. the defendent started hollering out lies then the judge gave me 2 seconds to defend lies or he was going to agree with him i was flabergasted. the defendent should prove what he says the evidence he produced was my hospital records which i submited to IN courts. and if the judge would have read them it proved just the oppisete.but again he did not have or want to take the time.i couldent belive the judge let things run like this i have been in court rooms and arbatration hearings this was neither this was a circus. they were running late the judge was ready for lunch and the defendent had a plane to catch.so i got screwed.i was used for the sake of the show. their was no justice in this circus. If your thinking about going on a tv court show i would pick any one but judge mathis. he seems to have forgoten how a court room works and let a bully take over his show or they were also over buget and set me up to save 5000.00 this was a simple battery which defendent plead guilty to in a criminial case plus i had all the proof of medical and pain and suffering.

His show isn't the only one

AUTHOR: Elizabeth - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, June 03, 2014

Years ago I was on Judge Judy.  The producer contacted me after I filed in small claims court and did a real hard sell to get me on the show.  I was really hesitant because who wants to air their dirty linen?  But, the producer assured me that I had an open and shut case and that the benefit of being on the show is that the show pays the judgment amount so you never have to worry about the loser failing to honor the judgment.  After a lot of thought I relented and appeared on the show.

While I have to say that Judge Judy is very professional and didn't snap at me or the other litigant, the case was far from open and shut.  The judge had a lot of sympathy for the person I was suing because he was young -- she said he "wasn't fully baked yet".  He stole a lot of money from me and I had proof, but he kept denying it and throwing another person's name into the mix, saying "XXXXX could have done it".  The judge asked me if I knew "XXXXX" and if "XXXXX" had ever been to my house.  I responded that I knew "XXXXX" and that "XXXXX" had been to my house but not around the time of the theft.  The defendant said "she doesn't know when the money was stolen, she only knows when she DISCOVERED it was stolen", and the judge ruled against me.

A few years later that same person (it's a distant family member) told my brother that the producer coached him into throwing the other person's name into the mix, and that same producer told him to say that I didn't know when the money was stolen, just when I discovered it missing.  I had a strong suspicion that he was coached, because, believe me, this kid isn't smart enough to think of something like that on his own.

For anyone considering going on ANY of these courtroom shows, heed the warnings.  You're not only going to be presenting your case (or airing your laundry) in front of millions of people, you're also setting yourself up to be ridiculed, lectured and lied about in front of those same millions of people.  If you really don't care about all that, by all means, have at it.  But the backlash for me was pretty stiff and I know I wouldn't do it again.  Ever.

i Do Agree That Some People Uike the Drama. We Didn't.  We Were Contacted By Show When My Husbands Old girlfriend Was Taking Us To Court for money owed to her...which he Did. They Talked Us Into Going On Show And Said They Would Pay Her. They Did. eWere going To Lose In Court Anyway. But They coaxed Both The plaintiff And Us after we got There Saying They Would Not Pay unless we made it ratings worthy and added more drama. we sgreed in front of them, but then  decided to take high road while on court. not ssying anything bad about plaintiff. she did not. She Said Horrible Untrue slanderous Things about my husbsnd, His Mother  ect. Things Not Even pertaining to case. and ThenTo top it all off, i was just a character witness and he berated me as if i was the other woman or something and told me i was stupid for being with him and...get this...being a mother to his children...which my response was ...it is my pleasure to be there mother. (that hurt me i really liked judge mathis before this). You do not get swarn in. so people get away with lying all the time. trust me, we did not Want 15 Minutes of fame from this and Since contracts are so binding we cant do anything about it. We can not even get show  to call us back, we are willing to deal with backlash on 99% of it , but have pleaded with show to edit the unnecessary slanderous statements plaintiff made at beginning  of show about my husband and mother in law that were irrelivant to case. they were complete lies and can cause several people to lide their jobs.

I too have appeared on Jugde Mathis but it hasn't aired yet the sbow is not fake i feel the negative comments are because they lost their case when u sign your paper work it tells you he is an arbritrator which in most courts u go to first and if it cant b settled u see a judge just because they ask u to be lively and entertaining doesnt make it fake so people should stop being negative just because they are salty

Sad Face

AUTHOR: Former Contesttant - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, March 02, 2013

I felt the same way. Until I went on his show. I LOVED him, respected him and so on. That's why I choose him, but sadly he isn't the man he is portraying. And out of all the judges, he is most able to google and see nothing but negative views of him. These people aren't lying. I experienced it myself. Its like meeting your favorite singer and you're invited backstage to see he does drugs & is a horrible person. Not saying that about him, but my experience with him. That's EXACTLY how it felt. He is not who he appears to be, well his show for that matter. I still advise people who have REAL cases to steer clear.

What I think about Judge Mathis

AUTHOR: SBegle - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, March 02, 2013

Judge Mathis is my kind of judge I do not have one thing to say against him this is just the way that I see him. And others may not agree with that and you all do not have to agree with that. But to be honest with you the way I feel about Judge Mathis, is that out of all other tv judges, judge Mathis is my favorite.

AUTHOR: Former Contesttant - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 13, 2012

This is all true. The same thing just happened to me. They arranged my whole case up to look as if I was lying. It's a reason the people you are suing agree to come on these shows. My case hasn't aired yet as well. Take it to REAL court and do NOT believe what the producers tell you. I read these reports before I went on because I had a great case and evidence, but had no knowledge that doesn't matter cause they arrange it all. For you to win /loose and how everyone is portrayed. That's never mentioned, so even if you feel you have all evidence and what not, STILL don't do it!!!! No matter how much money they offer you too.  Stir clear. All these things folks are warning you about are REAL!!! Don't learn the hardway like myself and others who suffered an awful experience and had to resuffer just for some ratings.  These reports/stories are REAL.

Producers undercover

AUTHOR: showspectical - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 09, 2012

Once again as I stated before, these are the producers going undercover as former litigants and viewers to try to do damage control about the show being a fraud. The show and everyone on it are frauds. All the way down to the fake bailiff. Do not let these people fool you. I have proof that this person is lying. It's all a con on innocent unsuspecting litigants that have been lied to that this is a real judge and that the cases are based on facts but in reality their based on a scam to get real cases presented on the show deceitfully. Nothing about this show is real and everyone involved are liars, con-artists and sociopaths. Do not be fooled that this person above is a real former litigant. Anyone needing proof about whether this show is real or not contact me and I will gladly show you the truth. I believe in karma and I am also a stronger believer in God. So one day this will all be brought to light and the people behind it will be punished whether they believe it or not.  Their day and downfalls are in the making. Trust that!

It is what it is

AUTHOR: It is what it is - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 08, 2012

I realize that these posts were done about a year ago but in reading through them I felt I should add my "2 cents" as well.

In 2005 I filed a small claims case against my ex fiance for the cost of a down payment I put on "our" vehicle.  When we split up, he took possession of the vehicle and promised to reimburse the down payment amount to me and to refinance the vehicle into his name only.  Since I had a signed promisary note I figured I could sue him if he didn't pay.  Fast forward 6 months and he had not paid a dime.  I filed suit and 30 days later I received a letter from this show asking if I'd be interested in appearing and having my "case" heard by Judge Mathis.  I did not answer immediately and weighed the pros and cons of continuing through the local courts or going on TV.  In the end I agreed to the appearance on the show.  My reasoning was that since even with a judgement against my ex, I doubt he would pay and I would have to spend more money chasing him down for supplimentals and garnishments vs. I could go on TV, get my 15 minutes of fame and humiliate him at the same time.

During the scheduling process, I found the producers to be exactly what they are...producers.  I'm not saying this to sound bad but they had a job to do and did it well.  I really can't say I have any complaints.  I stayed in a nice hotel in downtown Chicago the night before the show's taping and was taken to the studio the next morning by a car service.  The only "instructions" I was given was to present my case truthfully and to be able to back up my accusations with proof, which I had plenty of.  I was told that normally the "Judge" enjoyed the dramatics of a case like this but on that day he was in a mood and I was not to be overly rude to my ex or his apparent "witness".  When we entered the taping area (courtroom) I was allowed to present my case and he was allowed to explain his reasons for not paying...even though he admitted to signing the promisary note.  Sure the judge called us both out for the unfortunate and immature events that took place on the signing date but it's TV so the more he made fun of us the better the ratings.  In the end, when I thought I'd completely lost my case due to my ex's version of that day, I won by what my ex's witness said to Judge Mathis.

I knew full well what I was getting myself into when I agreed to the TV appearance.  I also knew that this was for entertainment..my "case" was just fodder for the viewers and ratings.  Sure I won so I'm happy and sure I'd be upset if I'd lost...but either way it is what is...TV!

My advice to anyone who is considering doing this type of thing is to look at it realistically and with the expecation that this is nothing more than a TV show.  This is not a courtroom and the "judge" isn't a judge.  They may have been judges in the past but they are now mediators to handle civil disputes.

Seriously people, get over yourselves.  If you REALLY wanted to handle your case in a professional manner you wouldn't agree to go on TV to do it.

producers

AUTHOR: showspectical - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, July 03, 2011

I honestly believe these are the producers responding to these rebuttals. If you could listen to the phone conversations that I recorded and they admitted that everything was a lie. When I read the amazing rebuttal.Amanda is what popped into my head. The one producer amanda called me after her two co-workers botch the attempt to try to intimidate me into taking down my posts off of ripoff.com by pretending that it was their lawyer on the phone accusing me of a contract breach and that they were trying to prevent me from getting in big trouble about the posts. They messed up because they said that they were one person and then that person said the wrong name. I played it over and over and fwd to friends and family members. It was just pathetic. Amanda asked me what did I think she lied about. I replied to her what didn't you lie about. I then begin to tell her how she lied that it was real court, a real judge, real justice. How she reassured me over and over again about perjury and lying was against the law and punishable with jail time. How then the judge look me dead in my eyes and lied and went against everything that was in the contract. She said I know. Then she said it wasn't guaranteed that you would've won in your local court. I asked her how would you know anything about local court this was just a tv show and if you were so confident that I would've  had the same chance having my case heard in a local court. Why did she lie and say that Judge Mathis had the same laws applied as my local court? Why not just tell me the truth of what the show consist of just being for there for entertainment purposes and let me decide based on that fact? She then begin to say well let me remind you did sign a contract and i'm just preventing you from getting in trouble for a breach of contract. I hung up it was obvious what she was trying to do to me. More lies and manipulation but by that time I already knew her true character there was no more room for her to fool me twice. FyI: The contract says I won't appeal the decision that way Judge Mathis won't be exposed for the fraud that he is but you don't have any control over my freedom of speech. I will tell the truth over and over and over until something finally clicks and people realize how very wrong and how very sick this is what you people are doing to innocent people They left me in the airport and that was my first time ever traveling away from home until my mother called and threaten to exposing them for leaving me in the airport to sleep and i had never traveled alone.Amanda was a very unattractive, overweight young woman and I truly believes that she hates herself so much the only way she make herself feel  self-worthy is the sick joy inflicting  others pain. Sad but very true and in time I know you all will one day pay for what you've done and little do he Judge Mathis know his day will come as well  and  he will pay and for all his wrong evil doings. There will be justice and no one i mean not one person will be able to sugar coat any of it.But in the meantime folks avoid his sick human being, this sick show at all costs if you are seeking real justice.

Truth

AUTHOR: showspectical - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, July 03, 2011

I just believe it's just some people's nature to feed off negative and lies or these are actually the producers who are responding to the rebuttals. There is no way in hell people think going through a traumatic ordeal such as the ones I others have been through would knowingly sign up for this. I keep reading my story over and over from people I have never met a day in my life. So we are lying and wanting 15mins of fame all of our stories are surely adding up with out it. I went through the legal court system, and the Judge Mathis producer contacted me a week before my default hearing. I'd had been dragged through the court system for 21/2 months meanwhile having to go through the harassment with this other person. I had no idea that this was for entertainment purposes because I had to sign real court documents, real release forms for witnesses, and evidence  to have my case be heard by the "fake" judge Mathis. I was constantly told that this was real court case. No one that in my town knew this show was a fake.I was told if the defendant lie he would have perjure himself and go to jail and his case dismissed. I in no way was seeking anything but justice and the opportunity to expose a criminal who was getting away with murder. No one told me that this was for tv only. I was not given paperwork, contract or nothing remotely close to cause me to believe that this was not a normal true court system. These people lie like they  breathe. I even took the liberty of recording them afterwards so nasty, inhumane individuals  who comment can look like fools saying people go on the show for fame. I went through the courts and the only reason I agreed to go on the show is because they assured me that not only would justice be served, but also that if I go through my local courts I would keep having to go through the courts and have to get a lawyer to get my money because even though my case is won that I may never reap the benefits and they will take care of that by hearing my case.No one told me this was all fake. Even after I changed my mind about going to the show the producer kept calling me back to back on how they wanted help bring justice to this guy and how they wanted to help me resolve this. If people want to be on this show for fame that's their business but for the ones who don't know that this show is fake this should be well established from the beginning then then there would be no mistake or fraud for those innocent people who think they are going through a real legal system. They were so calculated to the point when I started to read the contract and I call and asked the producer about the wardrobe she sent the driver to pick me up 30 minutes early then the original time discussed. I didn't know this then but I now know now that she was preventing me from reading the contract because when I called and ask her about the wardrobe she knew I was reading the contract or close to it. So for those who wants to know the truth. This show is a fraud. These are unsuspecting people who are believing they are legitimate litigants, not contestants on this horrible freak show.No words can express how truly sick these people truly are. No conscience, No soul, just pure evil and this you bet your money on this.

Simply Amazing...

AUTHOR: Striderq - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, June 19, 2011

You see Judge Mathis (and the others of this types of show) on TV. And yet you think by going on that you'll be receiving justice? No, you go on one of these shows to receive your 15 minutes of fame. Every one of this judge shows tells you in the credits that the show is for entertainment purposes. The producers may have promised you the moon but their job is to get good cases to appear. It's not about justice, it's not about fairness, it's about ratings. And if you decide to appear on one of these shows expecting anything else you're seriously mistaken.

If you were injured as you state, I'm sorry to hear it. I hope you recover completely. But the only way to get justice is to go through the legal system not the TV system. There's no guarentee that you'll win your case but with a real judge you (if you win) can ask for a judgement to allow you to garnish paychecks, bank accounts and/or business income to satisfy the judgement. If you seriously thought the TV shows was about justice and not about ratings then you might want to consider turning the set off and reconnecting with the real world (and I don't meant the show by that name). There's a reason TV is known as the boob tube.

AUTHOR: Joe Jude - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, June 18, 2011

I was on the judge mathis show on 06/14/2011. I was suing the parents of some kids that assaulted me on the way to work. These kids were found quilty and ordered to pay restitution. They chose to ignore the court order. I filed against the parents. I knew that i would not be able to collect, due to the parent attitude and their income. i was contacted by the Judge mathis Show, I was insured that this will be one of the ways that I can get my medical bills paid. The show was complety a farce, they took advantage of my pain and the loss that i suffered in 2010. I lost my sixteen year old son to suicide and six months later I lost my brother , aunt as well  as two close co-workers. Judge mathis team tried to convince me to tell this to the judge,"  stating that Judge matis is a family man and very few men cry on his show. I went into his court room and the defendent were stairing and the room turned into a circus. Judge mathis asked the kids if they were found quilty and they said yes, then judge mathis turned to me and and asked me to expalin a picture i gave him. i was trying to expalin the picture and I called him sir, He started yelling and accusing me of looking down on these poor black kids ( I'm african American), He also stated that he was tired of people like me with my shining shoes and fancy suits treating black kid like lower class citizen. These kids was found quilty by a judge and ordered to pay.  Judge mathis then began to birate me and he called me an Uppity n****r and told me to go back to my white community. His show is completely a joke. I have lost a great deal and then these kids inflict $2000.00 dollars worth of medical bills and they got away cause of a farce show like Judge mathis. Please do not go on this mans show and let everyone know what he truly is.

You're very welcome it made tears form in my eyes to know that the at least one person knows the truth. If  I had known what I know now I  would have never even given it a second thought. But just like the majority of people  I know we all believed it was real. Even the cop that stands in there is an actor. Nothing is for real. Everything is completely fake  judge mathis is so sick until it's perverted. The producers are just as sick. If someone would want to harm you while you there you are completely vulnerable and I wouldn't trust them as far as I can throw them anyways. Like I said before I have been getting calls from their lawyer and producers warning me to take this down. I don't know what's going to happen but I have proof of everything that i am saying. Contact me if you need proof I'll be glad to share this. If you have a real case and you want justice please avoid these people at all cost everything  will be served at your expense and you will never have another chance at real justice again because of the contract that only protect them and leave you with nothing but a sad story. You would not be able to appeal anything and it is at judge mathis discretion to decide what he will evidence or no evidence it doesn't matter he has full power that he takes sick advantage. in every way to humiliate the other person because they really are at his mercy. He is sick, sick, sick justice doesn't exist on this show. count your blessings!

Reality for Mr/Mrs. Reality Check

AUTHOR: showspectical - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, June 13, 2011

To me you sound  just like one of the shady producers that contacted me in the first place not the other way around. I went through the regualar court system for 21/2 months to be exact and if I didn't believe whole-heartily that justice wouldn't have been served by going on this show, then I would've proceeded to go forward with the court date I already had. These people "Do Not" say this is a Tv show and we are only using you for entertainment. What sane person would want to be exploited after being traumatized just so someone else can get paid and entertained at their expense? Please! Know what you are speaking of first, if you have not experienced this situation first hand. Have you been to a salon and received 2nd-degree chemical burns and then have the stylist hurl rude comments, insults, and threaten you? Have you ever been in so much pain that it was almost unbearable and then find out the person was neither licensed or trained to have cause this pain in the first place? I went there specifically for "Justice". In no way shape or form did I know this was for entertainment only. I came on this show with a purpose, to have my evidence showcased as the truth and have this thieving, coniving stylist exposed for what he really is a 'fraud"so that I could prevent innocent people like myself from going through the same horrible experience. I suggest Mr./Mrs. Reality Check you take a  reality check of your own. Walk a mile in one of our shoes who actually had to live through this ugly moment, before you speak out on something you know nothing about. Everyone's situation is different. I have their producers now contacting me and threatening me  to take down these posts,so that way no one can uncover the truth unless they go through it. Just be happy the unlucky person isn't you and have enough gratitude to respect the people  who are willing to share their hurt, pain, and humiliation so that other unsuspecting people do not have to face the same fate as we did. If you still want to hold on to your ignorant beliefs then so be it but I'm happy to know that I would have help prevent innocent people from making the same mistake in believing in this show is real by speaking out about the truth.

I believe every word that you are saying in your article.  The details of your experience are so eerily similar to mine that really only very few details differ.  It's very disturbing that even though other innocent people were also sucked into this scam that justice has not been serve to exposed these lying, malicious, backstabbing individuals, who con-ed us all. It's heart-wrenching to know that are getting away and sleeping well at night while the innocent unsuspecting litigants are forced to live with these real life nightmares forever. I'm very sorry that we all had to go through this and I pray that justice will one day prevail and they will have to pay for all the misery they've caused.
