I was employed at K&B for 8 months before I was in to the doc. I was diagnosed with polyps on my lynx. I was told that I had to have them removed! I told my dispatcher that I would need time off for this. I was told that I should try to do this on my home time. The company only allows 1 day off for every week that you are out and working. I was going to need up to a week for recovery. I told him that I would not be able to speak and that I would try to get back as soon as possible. The next week the doctor wanted me to have a biopsy, just in case. I told my dispatcher this. With in 2 hour of me saying that to him I was dent a message over the quilcom. "We need you to send in your notice to quit. I understand that you are only taking an extended time off for medical reasons. But we need that for our record." They insisted that I bring my Truck back to the yard. And then be sent home to deal with this. They did not want to fire me so they gave me the option to quit. I refused to do this. I even Sent this message in over the quilcom. " I will not nor do I plan to put in my notice to quit!" and signed my name. So I was sent home with most of my belongings on a bus for 23 hours to have surgery on my throat, with the idea of coming back after I recovered. The day I was to come back I was asked to have the doctor fax my work release, I complied. Then was told they would fly me back out. I called back and was told WE, K&B, decided not to rehire you!! I told them I made it very clear that I did not quit and that I also did that in writing. So I told them They fired me! And was told that I turned in my truck, when ask to do so by them in order to go home. They view that as voluntary turn in of my equipment so I had quit!!
