Kaplan College Bunk Accredidation Hammond Indiana

I am a Kaplan College Graduate. I received an Associates of Applied Sciences in Medical Assisting. I first and foremost only attended Kaplan to use as a stepping stone to enter the Medical field so I may later attend Nursing school.

Throught out my time at Kaplan which was Sawyer College when i first enrolled. I experienced major problems with this school. First thing was I lived had then lived in Chicago out-of-state and payed almost double for my education.

Towards the end of my program I experienced the death of my father. Working full time during the week and juggling day and night classes because I was told by the financial aid coordinator I had to attend school full time to receive my aid and grants.

I then asked to take some time off of school because dealing with the death of my dad and other personal issues not to mention health issues. Strained my body, working and going to school full time it took a toll on me.

I was told the only way I could drop my classes for the semester and take time off was if before I returned to classes I had to have my tuition paid in full. Since it was near end of my program my tuition in full would have been around $19,000.

I was then instructed I just had to finish. My personal and health matters caused me to miss classes,and eventually fail classes. and all said and done I went over by six months. But I still continued to graduate with a G.P.A of a 3.67 (Honors).

Then after graduating I still awaited taking my Certification testing to become a Registered Medical Assistant also a Registered Phlebotomy Technician. I had called almost every month to find out when I would be able to take my tests. Because it had already been included in my tuition.

I was instructed I had to wait for a class size large enough because the AMT would not send any one to proxy the exam till we had an appropriate class size.Which was a whole year later I might add.

Since then 3 years later now. I have been on a search to find any colleges or university to attend that offers a Nursing Program. To find out NO-ONE really accepts Kaplan College credits.

I have contacted Kaplan College several times to speak with Student Services and to date no one there can tell me who accepts their credits. I have tried approximately 5 different college and if I were to attend these schools I would have to redo all of my prerequisites.

The one place they eventually suggested that would absolutely take these credits was Kaplan University online. Yeah like I would even consider giving them any more of my money.

Now 3 years and almost $27,000 dollars later. I feel I was sold a Ketchup popsicle. They assured me that I could further my education at numerous Colleges with my associates degree. All of which none will accept these credits.

My experience there was a waste of time and money. For an Associates of Applied Science degree in Medical Assisting doesn't get you very far. I make slightly over minimum wage and not by much. Secretary's don't need an Associates to get jobs and they often make the same pay.

Kaplan College is a complete Rip-off!!! They tell you exactly what you want to hear to get you to enroll with them.
