I purchased a vehicle from Key Auto a buy here pay here car lot. Because of my bad credit i was given a "deal". The car would be marked up 3 to 4 thousand over blue book. But I was told that if I could obtain my own financing they would happily remove the mark up from the purchase price, and would be given 6 months todo so. After less than 3 months I was informed that my contract had ben sold to a company named Independent Dealers Advantage. Furious I called Key Auto and asked them about their offer to get my own financing. They told me I have 3 days to obtain $8000, otherwise there was nothing i could do.
"This is what we do and there is nothing you can do about it" was their reply. I contacted IDA and received the same response. Feeling ripped off I took the truck back to KEY Auto and they told me you can't bring it here we have nothing todo with it. I then called IDA and told them come get your truck. They said it will be picked up in 1 or 2 days. Two hours later they called back and said to take it back to Key Auto! I took it back and Key said we can't accept it! I then called IDA let the two talk and was then able to leave it. It's more than coincidental these two companies work this scam regularly. It's just a terrible thing that someone who is trying to rebuild their credit just gets screwed by people like this. I paid 1500 down 500 in taxes and even paid 300 dollars out of my pocket to get repairs! There is no such thing as good faith!

They should have known better than mess with you! You sure showed them who's the boss! I can't possibly imagine why you are a subprime borrower. Anyway, enjoy the bus rides!

Now you have a repo on your report

When you turned the vehicle back to the auto dealer is called a "voluntary repossession" and it hurts your credit just as much as an involuntary repossession.
Did your contract have, in writing, this credit that you were supposed to receive when you refinanced your vehicle loan within 6 months? If not, then it didn't exist. That story that the car salesman told you about giving you a large credit when your refi'ed the vehicle was just a ploy to get you to sign the contract. Now that you have an added repo on your credit, it will be much more difficult to obtain financing for your next vehicle. If you are lucky, the dealership won't report it on your credit, but don't count on it. Remember, when you sit across the table from any car salesman or F&I guy, they are going to tell you anything to get your signature on the paperwork. Don't believe anything they say unless it is in writing in the contract. Otherwise it is just hot air.
