I wanted to build an ar15 left hand rifle.  I search the internet for a company that offered barrels for left hand rifles.  I found Keystone Accuracy on the web that stated they specialize in left hand applications.  I filled out the inquiry online for what I was looking for and for advice.  After a week, no response.  I could not find any alternatives so I decided to call.  John Scandale answered my call.  I had some questions and wanted his opinion on what would be the best solutions. I noticed an attitude immediately.

He said he couldn't help until I chose options that he was not willing to help me with.  I told him I would research myself and email him back.  in about a half hour I email my option that I had ordered from another vendor.  His response was that he offered that option and that I should have got it from him.  He shot questions in the email about fluting, etc without advise or what he can do.  Attitude again.  I answered the best I could and asked for a quote.  I got the quote later that day, and sent the money order the next day.

One week later, he emails that I have a problem.  He made a mistake on the barrel configuration because I chose a different gas block than what he normally uses.  He said he could return my money, I could wait 10 weeks for new barrels, or upgrade to a better barrel that he didnt offer before.  He said he would offer it at his cost of $200 And that was the best he could do.  At this point I just wanted to complete the project.  I opted for the $200 dollar upgrade and send payment the  next day.  He had emailed a revision to the quote that I did not look closely at the new total.

He said $200 additional, that's what I sent.  On the revision it said $212.  State taxes.  When he received the payment, he said that I had to send the additional $12.  I reminded him it was because of his mistake I had to pay more.  He stated he was doing me a favor and he wasn't going to loose money over it.  Take it or leave it, because had too many other customers that want his product.  I just wanted to get it over with and said I would send the money as long as I got the barrel the following week.  He said if I was threatening with that statement, he would return my money.

This was a waste of my time.  If you advertise a special service and that you are helpful in all situation then deliver.  To be successful leave the attitude and ego at the door.

John, what in my actions did I do wrong or lie?  My family has been in business for 60 years and employ more than 120 people.  I guarantee and know we made mistakes(me included).  The differnce is that we attept to make it right.  $12.00 is nothing compared to $575.  Its the principle.  I have driven to another state to take care of a customer.  If you would have told me $300 more I would have paid.  If asking if you could do better is haggling because of your mistake, so be it.    I am asked that every day in normal transactions with no mistakes on my part.  I feel you are upset about this report beacause it gives an audience to your practices.  I suggest you learn from this.

I never metioned in my first report that I filled out your online questionnaire for a quote and to answer some questions because of my inexpierience with all the possibilities.  After a week you never responded, so I called.  I noticed when I asked you to do better because of the mistake, you emailed back in minutes.  If I have said anything untrue, you should sue me.  I was billigerent beacause I wanted the barrel finished the next week.  That really sounds threatening.  Wow.  Its obvious dealing in retail is new to you.  Good luck, you'll need it.

Setting thhe record straight

Ok, now that you have taken the time to read a negative report about Keystone Accuracy, please take the time to read the truth of the matter.

Darin Piekarski, of **** Apollo PA 15613, Apollo, PA contaced me on January 17th, 2014 regarding a rifle barrel that he wanted to order from me.  I quoted him a price on a Green Mountain barrel in which I had a very limited supply of.  In fact, his was to be an order placed for the last one on the shelf until I received my back order of barrels that was to be delivered in about 10 weeks according to the manufacturer.

I quoted him a price and he sent payment via postal money order which arrived in a few days.  Once his barrel was in line to be contoured and completed, I made the mistake of cutting the gas tenon for a standard gas block rather than the one that he supplied.  BTW, I take in customer supplied parts all the time in order to fit at their request.  Normally, I would just grab another blank from the stock shelf and complete his order and set the current one aside for another application, however I had no more Green Mountain blanks in stock.  I immediately notified Darin of the situation on February 3rd, 2014 when the mistake was realized.

My offer to Darin was one of three options in which I was willing to execute immediatly.  Option 1: refund full amount to him immediately since I was out of the inexpensive barrel blanks.  Option 2: wait until more of the same blanks arrived in order to fill his order exactly as placed.  Option 3: offer a Krieger barrel blank to him at cost in order to fill the order immediately.  Krieger blanks are in excess of $200 more that Green Mountain blanks, require more steps to complete, and are widley considered the best barrel in the industry.  He immmediatly tried to haggle on the cost of the upgraded barrel, but I informed him that I was already offering to him at a loss in order to keep a customer satisfied.  He agreed and to a $200 addition.

I sent a revised invoice to Darin on February 3rd, 2014 for $212 ($200 + $12 PA state sales tax) which I must pay by state law.  On February 4th, Darin said he was sending the additional funds required to complete his order.  Darin saw the invoice a day prior and willingly decided to only send $200.  When the postal money order arrived, it was $12 dollars short.  Because of Darin's demanding tone through the entire process, I informed him that I was not wiling to pay the tax out of my pocket after tacking $110 loss in order to keep him happy.

Darin became more beligerant and demanded that I pay the tax and have his order done in a a few days.  After have received this ultimatum, I realized that this would not turn out well regardless of how the order was filled and decided to refund his money immediately and ship all parts back at my expense.  Before he even received the parts and payent back, he posted this smear in the attempts to tarnish my excellent reputation in the industry.

I think it's very odd that there are so many websites designed to blast negative information about a company, but there are none that offer the countless positive phone calls and emails that I get on a weekly basis from customers who are elated with the custom work that I provide for them in a very reasonable time frame.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

John Scandale, Keystone Accuracy, LLC
