Through my own mistake, I deposited funds in the wrong checking account, (I have two checking accounts), and a check I wrote on one had insufficient funds. I deposited into this account to insure the funds were there but not soon enough to prevent the problem with check.

The check was written on Feb. 18th, Kinko's never resubmitted the check and today Mar. 13th I received a call about 8 am from TRS CORP (TELECHECK RECOVERY SERVICES, INC) telling me that I would be billed a $30.oo fee for the returned check and did I want them to take it from my checking account for which there would be an additional fee of $11.00.

No time did she ask if I wanted to send in a money order. I earnestly wanted to correct this situation so I said ok. Later, today I recieved a notice in the mail of the above which indicated I could sent a cashier's check or money order or make payment by western union quick collect and telecheck phone pay for which there would be an additional charge.

I clearly am responsible for insufficient funds in my account and agreeable to pay the $30.00 but I feel the I was misled when the person on the phone did not give me the former options which cost me the additional $11.00. I'm not in the habit of writing bad checks so I'm not aware of the procedures and my rights and options.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Your anger is misdirected.

AUTHOR: Matthew - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, April 25, 2004

You have every right to be angry, but not at Kinko's. The company that did not offer you the option that would have saved you money is TRS. Kinko's submitted your bad check to a recovery service, and that service gave you poor customer service. Direct your anger where it is deserved instead of bad mouthing a company for something they didn't do.
