I also purchased a kitten from Patricia Milhorn, proprietor of Kisspurz Cattery in August. Within one week, a vet diagnosed her with ringworm. Also, my husband, who is diabetic, developed it on his feet. This required numerous M.D. visits and the expense of medication, for both the kitten and my husband. After contacting Patricia, I was assured no cat in her cattery had this condition.

Then when I took my kitten in to be spayed, she had yet more lesions, resulting in additional treatment, and me, having the daunting task of repeatedly having to disinfect my house with bleach, and wash EVERYTHING numerous times. At this point, I contacted Patricia, asking for a refund, to compensate me for the time and cost of the treatment of this. I was denied that, and offered another kitten. I, like the previous complaint, thought, why would I want yet another kitten with ringworm? She again denied that any cat in her cattery had ringworm. I would also like to add, that while she claims that her cats are well socialized, there were many cages. It took me weeks to get my kitten comfortable with being held.

I feel she is a dispreputable breeder. I, in good faith, believed I was purchasing a healthy kitten, and gave her the benefit of the doubt, that perhaps she didn't know, and was willing to treat the kitten, out of my own pocket and let it go. But now, that I see yet another complaint, feel that she is knowingly deceiving the public, and marketing unhealthy cats. She must shut down her cattery, now, and stop this illegal practice.

kisspurz cattery response to rebuttal

AUTHOR: Bev - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 28, 2008

In response to Patricia Milhorns rebuttal.
1. She was informed the kitten tested "positive" under a Woods Lamp. She never requested the vets report,if she had, I would have sent it. My kittens vet told me "Your cat has ring-worm."

2. She indicated I had a cat with active ringworm in my home. This is a false statement. I told her of an experience I had with a cat with ringworm over 20 yrs. ago. I never would have brought a new kitten into a situation with an active disease process.

3. I requested a refund in order to cover the costs of medication and vet bills for the cat, medication and doctor bills for my husband who caught it. Also to compensate me for the task of disinfecting every possible surface in my home with bleach, keeping in mind this is not a one time endeavor. She offered to take the kitten back, and give me a new one. She would not refund any part of my cost. Now, why would I want another kitten with ringworm?

What I find most deceitful, now that I've read the reports from others, is that there were other people who had kittens from her, who were reporting this to her in the same time frame that I was. In fact, my kitten is the litter mate from another person who wrote a report. Yet, she continuously lied about it, to me, and to the others, denying that any cat in her cattery had ring-worm.

I hope that these reports help to serve others as a warning to not purchase kittens from this cattery. She is indeed, a disreputable breeder.
My saga continues, now my 12 year old cat has it!
Bev

No confirmed diagnosis for ringworm was ever made with this kitten, return for refund of this kitten was refused by buyer.

There was never a confirmed diagnosis of ringworm on this kitten that I have been made aware of. No vet statement what-so-ever was given to me concerning this kitten. Buyer stated she had had ringworm in a cat previously from another cattery.
She told me there was a sore, scratch or something on her ear a few weeks after she got her and that the vet gave her something to put on it and it went away. A few months later she said she found a couple of bumps on her chest and thought it might be ringworm. I told her I had no evidence of ringworm on any of my cats.
Her vet did not culture these bumps to say for sure what it was. Being she had had the cat a while and she had told me a previous cat had had ringworm I was not sure what it was or if it had come from here if it were ringworm, but I still offered to take the kitten back and treat her myself. She said she would never part with the kitten, that she was one of the best cats she has ever owned. She wanted a refund for the kitten and keep her too.

She also said she slept with the cat and never got anything on her and that none of her other cats that were in contact with the cat had gotten it.

As for cages in my home, I have a couple of kitten cages kept in my dining room in the center of my home for young kittens. This is for their protection. No reputable breeder will allow young kittens free roam of their home. Until vaccinations are complete they do not roam with adult cats or have constant contact to floors that visitors have walked on. This lady was allowed access to see all of my cats.
She told me the kitten didn't like being held for the first week and that she did accept it after getting to know her better. It takes kittens a few days to get used to new surroundings and people. She handled this kitten before taking her, and did not have any troubles with that here.

I have always had a wonderful reputation with my cats and stand behind them and continue to do so.
