The EMPLOYER is in VIOLATION here!

EVERY employer is required to have an I-9 form on file for a new hire. That employer is supposed to actually EXAMINE the identification documents used at time of hire and annotate on the I-9 and sign it, along with the employee.
Legally, the employee must have the physical SS CARD in hand BEFORE hiring.
I used to run into this all the time. Someone applying but has no SS#. They just want to write the # on the application and think that is good enough. It is NOT.
