I received a mailing on January 28, 2016 reporting that I can claim a prize of up to two million dollars. The documents looks suspicious, and I had not entered any sweepstakes. I reviewed the documents carefully. It is apparent the papers mailed are copies, even though at the top right there is a box checked for "Original Copy to Recipient". No, I did not get an original. That is also obvious from the undecipherable signature at the bottom of the page, which is an "award check". This is all on the first page. The second page is titled " Official Declaration of CERTIFIED AWARD and Provision of Payment". It is embellished with all kinds of official looking numbers - schedule form, filing year, verified ID number. Page two gives Option A and Option B to receive my reward. Option A gives a lump sum payment of $1,327,940.00 that will be wired to any account world wide. Option B gives $2,000,000.00 in 30 year annual disbursements of $66,666.00, by electronic wire to a bank account world wide. This page shows "certified summarization", showing no taxes withheld, payment amounts, and interestingly, "Day and Time of Issuance : Tuesday, 10:55 AM. Which Tuesday???? And I have seven (7) days to respond. From which Tuesday???? At the bottom, it gives a signature area, and informs "Premium Offer FEE due for delivery" which is $12.99. Remitted by cash, check, or money order to ANC. The third-sheet insert gives "Grand Prize Sweepstakes XVI Official Rules". This refers to a website http://thenextgeninc.com and NextGen, Inc. Customer Service, P.O. Box 7069, Shawnee Mission, Kansas 66207, and the phone number (913) 338-1823. It guarantees satisfaction on purchases, offering refunds. No purchase necessary to enter or win, and purchasing does not increase your odds of winning. But yet, I am a winner if I send in $12.99 and give then access to my bank information. No thanks.
