Lasko claims their Tower Fans have an IONIZER also. They do have a button that supposedly is an IONIZER. According to them this a "Fresh Air Ionizer". Yet NONE of their fans have any of the standard Air Filters that you would normally find on the back of any fan to catch the dust particles, etc... as the air is drawn in through the fan. Especially on a fan with an Ionizer on it.

So I email them asking them where is the Air Filter on the Fan so that I can keep it clean & that's when they tell me there isn't one. Then they give me an unusual explanation, listed below, of how they think an Ionizer keeps the air Fresh. Which really isn't possible at all without a Filter in place unless they think blowing the dirt into another room qualifies as keeping the air clean.

They reply email from them said:
"The following information will explain the function of our Ionizer.

Model 4820 is a fan with an Ionizer as an optional feature.
This product is manufactured with a negative ion generator inside the fan to disperse negative ions into the room with the force of the fan. It is intended to give the space a fresh air feeling, similar to those outdoor spaces that have high concentrations of negative ions, such as the beach. This is achieved by raising the proportion of negative ions versus positive ions in the room. There are no filters or plates to be cleaned inside the Ionizer because it does not collect airborne particles inside the unit and is not rated as an air cleaner."

Honeywell was my previous Fan & it also had an Ionizer plus it's air speed was much better then this one. Even my little Bionaire Fans have little sponge filters in the back like the Honeywell Fan. Without a filter of some type you can't catch the dust & dander, etc...

Very disappointed with the responses I got from Lasko. I guess they don't need the business or care what customers think!

#1 Consumer Suggestion

You are an idiot

An ionizer is something that generates negative ions (charged particles).  Your fan does have an ionizer.  An ionizer is not a type of air filter -- look it up on Wikipedia.  While some air cleaners are both an ionizer and an electrostatic precipitator, yours is just a fan with an ionizer, and not an air cleaner.  In the future, I would suggest doing some research BEFORE you buy things.
