We purchased a Sea Fox Boat from the boat show in Palm Beach County. We traded our boat in and wrote a personnal check from our acct for the entire amount of the new boat. They were to pay off the trade in. 4 months later (oct 2008) I received a letter from my old finance co stating the boat was not paid off and no insurance was on the boat. That I would be liable for the insurance and for anything that happens to the boat since it wasn't insured. The finance co said that it was my responsibility even though I traded it in. When I contacted Legacy over and over, I kept getting them telling me to wait 4-6 weeks until the payment is recieved by the old finance co. Every 4-6 weeks, I got the exact phrase. It is now Dec 2008 and the boat still remains unpaid. The company continues to make the minimum payments and I am unable to get them to pay the boat off. My credit has dropped because my outstanding debt shows my old boat loanalong with my new loan.

Buyer beware, they will tell you anything at the boat show and will do nothing once they get your money.

Stay Away From Legacy Marine in Dania Beach Also

AUTHOR: Michael - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 23, 2009

When I purchased my Sea Fox, it was from the Miami boat show. The dealership I had the displeasure of working with was Legacy Marine in Dania Beach. At the time of purchase, they promised 2 weeks delivery of my new boat. Well, that 2 weeks came and went. Three months later, and after already having made 2 payments, the boat finally arrived. Then, they needed an extra week to install the upgrades I purchased.

First off, the anchor Legacy gave me was only fit for a jet-ski, or maybe a dinghy. Second, they didn't pitch the prop right. After a month of trying to figure out why the boat didn't ride right, it cost me another $300 to purchase the right prop and replace the fouled, overworked plugs. When I made a complaint, they completely ignored it.

Now, I am hearing stories of Legacy not putting the proper HIN's on boats. If you own a Sea Fox, seek the hidden HIN, typically under or near the battery boxes. Make sure the hidden HIN matches the one on the right stern.

I will NEVER purchase another P.O.S. Sea Fox, and I will NEVER deal with Legacy Marine or Legacy Fisherman again. I live in S. Florida and know plenty of boaters. Every single one of them has been warned against this crooked company.

How I got Legacy Fisherman to pay off my trade!

AUTHOR: Hoveskie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 17, 2009

I contacted legacy and spoke with "Dawn" and explained I would be calling Channel 12 news within an hour if I didn't have the pay off completed. I then called the news station in west palm beach and Ashley Glass (a news anchor) did the story on the 5:30 news. My trade was paid off in less than 1 week from the time they contacted Dawn to let them know they were being reported on tv. I would suggest you try that approach. It took 6 1/2 months for my trade to be paid off. See the video on Youtube for more info. Type legancy Fisherman in the search engine and it will explain the whole story to back up what I am saying. Good luck! I feel your pain more than you know.
