Hi,

I was very much impressed by this Company called Lenovo as it calimed it was being manufactured in Singapore and not China, thats the reason I bought this laptop from lenovo.com, along with that I purchased their extended 2 year warranty for which I paid $69 and its called Thinkpad depot warranty .. The laptop worked great for couple of years , I had purchased this in 2009 somewhere around July.. in July 2011 I had an issue with the laptop and when I called customer service I was told that my warranty is expired as it began in 2009 and ended in 2011.. I was very surprised :( and when I asked them that how come I dont have warranty for 2 years extended they claimed its from date of purchase, so I inturn questioned them , after much chaos with back and forth emails , I got to speak with a manager who agreed they will do this one time repair inspite of warranty being expired which was false in the first place becuase my warranty should have lasted till 2012 July.. which apparently did not happen, even then I sent my laptop to Lenovo, and when they received it they claimed that its out of warranty and to fix it they will charge me $600 + taxes +shipping and that accidental damage is not covered and all that .. the motherboard has some liquid spill or something which was NOT TRUE I was taken aback and disappointed with their horrible customer service.. .. So I had to get my laptop back from them .. Its a total scam never purchase warranty from Lenovo , will never buy Lenovo again, the d**n thing cost me $1200... Please be aware and don't get lenovo warranty ever

Also before sending this laptop they put me through hell with back and forth emails and telephone calls , I also sent them proof of purchase , and they disagreed.. this is a definite SCAM !! Stay away from Lenovo

What does your WRITTEN warranty say?

AUTHOR: Ken - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, March 17, 2012

You did read it didn't you?

"..that I purchased their extended 2 year warranty for which I paid $69.."

You also state you bought it "somewhere around July." How can this be when you also said you sent them proof of purchase?
"I also sent them proof of purchase , and they disagreed.."
How can you tell when your warranty began and ended if  you aren't ever sure when you bought it?

"..and that accidental damage is not covered and all that .. the motherboard has some liquid spill or something which was NOT TRUE I was taken aback and disappointed with their horrible customer service.."
A liquid spill into electronics is far from a nebulous thing.  It is VERY apparent, bluish-green with white corrosion and possible eaten through component leads and circuit board foils.
If that's what they saw, it was indeed a spill of some sort.
In my years of service work, I've seen it MANY times.  The customer usually does deny it ever happened.   They may not have been the ones making the spill, but someone around the equipment certainly did.

Sorry for your trouble, but it looks like you may have just had something to do with it.

So far, your ROR would NOT deter me from doing business with Lenovo.
