I wanted to purchase a Nikon macro lens as a Christmas gift for my wife. After ordering the lens, I was contacted by a Scott Jensen from Lenses N' More. Scott informed me that the Nikon lens I ordered was discontinued however he was going to send me a better lens (Sigma) for the same price and also suggested I order a UV filter for the lens. ( This was the bait and switch part)

Being this lens was for a Nikon D40X camera, one must consider the Auto Focus feature as it only works with very few lenses that are not Nikon so I asked Scott three different times during our conversation if he was sure the auto focus feature would work with this lens. Scott assured me (three times) that auto focus would work with this lens.

Christmas morning arrived, the wife was very pleased to get the lens until we tried to use it and of course it wouldn't auto focus. I contacted Lenses N' More customer service and was greeted by a very unfriendly agent with an attitude so I called back and spoke to Scott Jensen personally. Scott then denied that I told him the lens was for a Nikon D40X! Which is interesting because the very purpose of his call was to tell me the NIKON lens I ordered was discontinued... I guess he thought I was ordering a NIKON lens for a Minolta or something huh? anyway, I reminded him of our conversation and the fact that I asked him 3 times about this lens and the auto focus feature of the D40X. He again denied I told him it was for a Nikon D40X.

At this point I realized this company is a rip off and I just wanted to return the lens and have them credit my card. Scott then informed me that there would be a 15% restocking fee if I just returned the lens and hey, guess what? that original Nikon lens I wanted was now available, (this after telling me it was discontinued during our initial phone conversation). That was very interesting.

It didn't take long to realize what happened. Lenses N' More didn't even have the lens in stock when I ordered prior to Christmas, and instead of losing a sale by telling me they couldn't get it until after Christmas, Scott lied to me about the features of the other lens knowing they would at least make the restock fee if I returned it.

This company is dishonest. I believe Scott Jensen knew he lied to me in order to keep the sale. However, as I'm not interested in paying them their outrageous "restock fee" and I still need the Nikon macro lens, I'm going to return the sigma lens and PAY MORE for the original lens I ordered. In other words I'm giving them the chance to make this situation right. I'll post another update once that transaction is completed. Wish me luck.

Conclusion of this issue

AUTHOR: Daniel - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 21, 2008

Well I've finally had the time to update this rip-off with my efforts to recover my money.

I filed a report with the Office of consumer affairs in New York regarding this company. The report was easy to file however they require two copies. I then contacted my CC company and had them also get involved. It took several weeks however they did finally refund my money and had to accept the "bait" lens we shipped back.

This took a lot of effort on our part to recoup as even the CC company seemed to side with the merchants without regard to their business ethics (or lack thereof). I was so disgusted with the CC company's lack of motivation in helping me I cancelled my card with them.

Interesting enough I then received a phone call from the CC company where they apologized profusely for the problem assured me there would not be any charges on my card from Len'n more (or their affiliate names) and suggested they issued me a new card. They then expressed how they appreciated my 32 years of patronage, (all in good standing) without a single issue. Yeah I think that helped..

By the way, we finally did purchase the lens we wanted from a reputable (in store) dealer in Orlando. The wife is very happy with her lens so all is once again right with the world.

I want to thank ripoff report for their dedication in bringing disreputable companys to light and I am in hopes that others will benefit from reading this report and save themselves time money and a lot of anguish.

Thanks again,
-DCP

Update on Lenses N' More transaction

AUTHOR: Daniel - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 30, 2007

Contacted Scott Jensen to let him know we sent the Sigma ( switch) lens back to him and wanted to verify they were sending the original Nikon 105 mm macro lens in exchange. Scott said there would be an additional charge. I disagreed as the lens was listed on their web site for the same amount. Scott caught an attitude and insisted that was for the PLASTIC lens. I told him ok, then send that one. He them caught a real attitude and hung up.

I have filed a report with New York Consumer Affairs regarding this company and insured my CC company does not pay on any of thier comany names.....
