Leslie's pool supply in ocala liquid chlorine is content 10.5% but it must be less than that. For the past year I've used Leslie's liquid chorine for my 6500 gal pool avg.3-4 jugs a week (2.5 gal) and still goes green rapidly. My pool man says stick with pinch a penny becuse there chorine content is actually 10.5% and leslie's is much lower than that. I've used Pinch-a-penny for two months now with no problems and my pool has never looked better. Also Leslie's cost $.49 more than Pinch-a-penny, alot of money wasted

#4 Consumer Suggestion

Do a little research

AUTHOR: Get A Clue - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, September 28, 2008

1. Leslie's and Pinch-a-Penny get their Liquid Chlorine from the same source.
2. It all starts out at 10.5% chlorine, but degrades continuously from the time it leaves the manufacturing facility, eventually losing all sanitizing effectiveness and becoming salt water.
3. At full strength, 3-4 jugs a week is enough to "shock" 75,000 - 100,000 gallons of water.
4. Beavis has live algae in his pool, as he has seen and explained, chlorine alone will not kill algae, it is a preventative. The amount of chlorine he is using is weakening and bleaching out the algae which continues to come back as the chlorine level subsides.
5. If you have a "pool man" why are you buying chemicals yourself, and why do you have an ongoing algae problem?
6. Don't believe everything your "pool man" or the employees at Leslie's or Pinch-a-Penny tell you without doing a little research for yourself.

Liquid Chlor. Issues

AUTHOR: Clint098 - (U.S.A.)

Here is the deal with liquid chlor... it has a very low level of active ingredients. this is going to be the same if you go to any major store looking for liquid clor. If you read the active components you will notice it has a high sodium content. wich eventualy raises your dissolved solids much more rapidly than normal, leaving you with a pool of unreactive water that is reached saturation and is just not working the way it once did. Its not uncommon to see a customer come in for a water test, who uses liquid clor. and having a 2500+ PPM salt content with a dissolved solid content of 3000+. this water is tired. and is just down right not working. your gona see that your adding chem to your pool (ajusting PH/ALK and or adding chlor.) much more frequently that you would before.

SOOOOOOO..... Liquid chlor. has a much greater comercial pourpose than that of residential application. For instance, a comunity pool that has an auto fill feature, or drains and refills on a regular basis. I deffinatly reccomend the CHLORBRITE, or POWER POWDER products because of it's high concentration of Hypochloride or similar santizing components and longer lasting shelf life for residential applications.

the deal with selling liquid chlor. is the turnover rate of shipments. (wich i do advise to EVERY customer that ask's for it) is that the bottle has a vented cap, it will constantly loose concentration from the point it is manufactured, to the point it sits in your garrage or shed to the point it enters your pool. its just science, and leslies where im employed is very interested in instilling in its employees and supplying us with a very high level of Training and education...

In retrospec, liquid chlor. has its applications, but may not have been the best option for you personally. Its deffinatly fast and easy way to add chlor. to your pool. but remember, the easy'st way is not always the most effective :)

I hope this was informative and I hope your pools looken good, and your having a blast swimming in it!
