When my son ordered an engraved, birthstone ring for his girlfriend, from an internet jewelry store, I warned him that he should be cautious - he assured me that he researched (which is characteristic of my son!) and liked the fact that they actually offered a refund policy (even on engraved items!).  However, upon his receipt of the ring he wasn't satisfied and returned the ring - using the supplied "return slip", which he placed inside the envelope with the ring.  He did, unfortunately, fail to insure the package, although he addressed it according to the shipping label and put our return address on the package.  Their return policy offers "full refund of purchase total, up to 90 days; purchases made by credit card would be refunded in TWO BILLING CYCLES (it always amazes me how they can take the money out of your account in a matter of seconds and then it takes MONTHS to refund!)".  The item was returned within two weeks of receipt (beginning of Dec 2009) and my son waited, expecting a refund in the beginning of February.  It is March and no refund.  They claim to have not received the ring. While I know that the ring was not returned to our home - insured or not, if it didn't get to them, it would have been returned to the return address/our home. I mean, really, how often does an item get lost or stolen from the postal service?

Upon contacting Limoge's Jewelry, via e-mail and phone, my son gets the same generic response: we haven't received it, did you insure it/can you prove that you returned it.

Unfortunately, my son can't prove that he returned it.  The ring cost under $200.00 -  a lot of money for a college kid to have STOLEN from him, from a company offering a bogus return policy.

Response from Limoges Jewelry

Thank you for allowing me the chance to address this situation.  As you know, there are numerous ways that dishonest people can defraud a company, particularly in the online environment. For this reason, our customer service agents are asked to first make sure that an item was, in fact, returned before crediting an account. This does not make our return policy bogus nor does it mean that we would ever steal money from anyone. As a company we have an extremely high customer satisfaction rating and we pride ourselves on our integrity as a business.

That said, I understand that your son is coming from a place of integrity as well and  I absolutely understand your frustration and have myself been victim of the postal service in the past. Please be assured that if you provide me the details of your son's order (customer name and order number, ideally), I will personally take care of this for you to ensure that your son receives his credit even if the merchandise never makes it back to us.

You may contact me directly via email at the address below:

I hope to hear from you soon,

A. Schneider, Vice-President
