I was advised by the folks at ListMyBusiness, that my wesite needed some improvements, and that they would re-skin the site for $500 in a few short weeks.  They would then hope to carry on with some SEO input for an additional $500 a month.  They couldn't even get past the initial job of re-skinning the site.  I spent numerous hours, first describing to the account representative, Tina Andes what I wanted, who indicated that everything was do-able and would cost $500.  After I paid, she transferred the file to the "project mangager", Arlene Henry, who had no clue about what I has discussed with Tina Andes.  Not only did I need to repeat to Ms. Henry in detail numerous times what I had mentioned to Ms Andes, I had to constantly re-correct the small quantities of work that she advanced over several weeks, and in addition, I had to send hand-written text to show what modifications I wanted on printed pages from my existing website. After several months of lost files, poor communication and few results, and complaining of limited success to Ms Andes, I was told by Ms Andes that they would not pursue the file and they would not reimburse the money.  This company is quick to promise, but slow to deliver. Luckily I only spent $500 on this incompetent group, and I wanted to at least document this rip-off, so that if someone else is planning to contrat for their services and they take time to check, they will be warned about going any further.  For $500, it's not worth taking further. Luckily I didn't give them more money. What a scam! I am now dealing directly with a Indian website expert, who for a fraction of the cost is servicing my needs in an incredibly timely way.  So much for the North-American standard of service!

Situation Resolved

AUTHOR: C. Goudreau - (Canada)

POSTED: Thursday, February 02, 2012

About a week after submitting my report, I received a call from a senior executive at ListMyBusiness.  He seemed sincere about getting to the bottom of my complaint and apologized for the treatment I received at the hands of a relatively new employee. He arranged to return the money I had paid for the work that wasn't completed.  I am quite satisfied with this outcome and consider the situation resolved.  Cy.
