I received a letter with a check for $4200 made payable to me and it said I won the Mega Millions Draw held on April 21st, 2007. It's a scam! They are saying to cash the check and it's been deducting from the winnings of $250,000. The purpose of the $4200 check is to pay the Tax Clearance Fee.

I finally got in touch with someone who says they are from Loblaw (someone on this site posted a number for them - 866-961-5611). Paul Smith said to cash the check and call him back once I cash it. I also got in touch with Leslie Moore at 778-858-7416 (her info was in my letter) and she said to cash the check and then call her too. I asked her why I need to call her and she said I keep $1000 in my account and then I send them $3200 for tax clearances to receive the $250K. Meanwhile, the check will be returned because it's not real. I stumped her with a bunch of questions. They are claiming that you could have entered a contest when you shopped at Walgreens, Kmart or Walmart.

The check does look very real but they are getting your name and address from your phone number somehow. If you look at the mailing label, your phone # is right above your name. Even when you play lotto, you don't give your name so how would they know who you are and how to find you.

This is a horrible scam, please don't fall for it. Don't send any money to them!!! Nothing is free and the lottery doesn't work this way, they don't come and find you. When a winner doesn't claim their money, the only thing they know is what state it's from and what store you purchased it from. I'm hoping there is some way the police can trace these phone numbers back to them.

These are HORRIBLE people that are trying to scam you! I thought it was a scam when I got the letter yesterday but the check looks so real and I even doubted myself thinking I played the lottery last year but like I said, you don't give your name when you play the lottery. I know the check looks tempting but please don't do it - you will lose money!!
