I took my 2007 Chevy Aveo to Lone Star Chevrolet in Teague Texas to have the timing belt replaced, I took my own belt, the vehicle was running perfect when I left it for the repairs, when I returned the mechanic told me that he had to use all of the tension adjustment to get the belt tight, I took the car and before I could get home, about 35 miles, it jumped time, I took it back the next day and they put on a factory replacement belt, it fit fine but the dammage had already been done, if the mechanic had installed the aftermarket belt propperly he would have known that it was not fitting properly, I was never advised that I should not drive the vehicle with the after market belt, I should have been warned that it did not fit properly, now they will not give me any assistance in the matter that was caused by thier incompentence. I purchased the vehicle there and have not had any satisfactory assistance of any kind since the sale, I would avoid doing business with this dealership.

Gee, and here all along I thought Gates belts were a good quality belt, I wasn't trying to save money, I wanted the best quality belt that I could get.

the car had 58,000 miles on it, it was due to be changed.

I'm curious. If your vehicle was running perfectly, WHY did you want the timing belt changed? Was this a normal, recommended maintenance action from Chevy?

How many times did you repeat that you had taken an "aftermarket" belt to the dealership that; not fitting properly, did not fit properly, should not drive the vehicle with an aftermarket belt. I mean here you are trying to blame the whole frickin' problem on the dealership, "that was caused by THEIR incompentence" and you're the cheapskate that TOOK an aftermarket(read cheap) timing belt and TOLD them to put it on your vehicle. If anything, they are to blame for NOT telling you to take your cheap, non-fitting, AFTERMARKET timing belt.....SOMEWHERE ELSE. Like midas or pep boys or wal-mart or some other fly by night bunch and let them mess up your aveo. Someone comes into my shop with their cheap no name chinese parts and I tell them to go elsewhere, cause I have no idea where they came from, how long they're gonna last or what type of service they'll provide.

After filing this report I realized that I had acted a little too soon, I should have contacted the service manager directly which I did not do, [my mistake] he was not aware of my problem nor was the owner of the dealership.
I spoke to the service manager and he has done more than anyone could expect to correct the situation, my car is running perfect now and I will certainly be a repeat customer.
