My husband and I wanted to make sure that everyone who is a current customer of LBA know what they have done to us. We experienced the same harrassment but things went very bad for us. We had entered into agreement with a supervisor named Fred that LBA would lower our payments for six months and defer the payments that we were behind due to my husbands lack of work and the economy in Denver. He informed my husband that he would get the approval from his boss and fax the papers for us to sign.
Instead we received a phone call from a recovery specialist[repo man]wanting to make arrangements to pick up the vehicle. The recovery specialist said he has heard a lot of bad things about this company. We had payed over 20 payments at $349.00 and have nothing but serious concern as to what they will pull next.
Please be very careful when making arrangements with this company. They will stab you in the back! This kind of crap cannot be legal and the multitude of people having problems should warrant a full blown investigation against Long Beach. Any help concerning this matter is greatly appreciated.

I read the comment from the employee at LBAC and find this person to be so full of crap it's insane. It's so easy for collectors to assume the worse in people and I myself have been a collector on those accounts that are 90+ days out and KNOW the challenge of the collections position. NO ONE has ANY right to harrass people the manner that LBAC does. Guess what LBAC employee if you called the client and then two others in your collections call the same client within the same week. This person has received 3 calls from LBAC and I know in my case I spoke to everyone that called me and way after the payment were wired to the office I still keep getting a lot of calls from LBAC. It was crazy. LBAC called everyone that was a reference and told all my personal business to them which guess what is illegal. Of course paying is easier and as I stated before I continued to get collections calls even when I wasn't late!I lost friends and nearly the job I had --which I needed in order to pay the scum bags because of them. That is harrassment plain and simple.It's been a few years since this all happened and whenever I think about it-it STILL pisses me off!
A good way to locate attorneys that deal with companies like this is to do a search under consumer protection attorney or pickalawyer.com. I know my attorney consulted with a LA based attorney at Trueblood Law firm.I was lucky that one contacted me. You may have to make a few calls before you find one. Consumer attorneys are very busy since there are SO many companies doing crap like LBAC so it may take a few weeks before you get an appt with one so start now! Don't except to get a lot of $$ from the case. Keep in mind that it's more about peace of mind than financial compensation.
This company is crap and anyone that defends them will find themselves on the other side of karma having to deal with a company like LBAC collections practices. Then we'll see the stories you want to share.

congats on the lawsuit!
I had 8 out of 60 payment left on my jeep when they repoed it last Feb. I had made a check payment over the phone with my Rep Rosa in Irvine. They claimed the check was reurned NSF. NOT TRUE!
This had happend twice before. I had to have my bank Rep fax and mail proof of sufficient funds each time with LBAC. In Fact, My bank stated that they had NO transaction history on any of the Check#'s. Meaning, payments never got to my bank.
The past 2 years i've logged on this site reading all the coplaints about LBAC and this is my first time ever responding.

I have read most of this information people that email to the rip off report.... i dont understand how some eveil people that just can email and say bad things about employees and a coperation,. just about anybody can go into the web site and input negative things and issues about things that might be correct or not! An X employee that might just made becuase he got fired and come into this web site and not incorrect inforamtion about a manager or supervisor that had fired him/her. Its just not fare! I do work for this company and let me tell you its not easy to collect a payment from customer that have bad credit but what can i say this is my job! I like my job trying to help those people that want the help,. but you have those dead beets - that just want a free ride and don't want to make a payment on time or just dont pay there bills on time- or hide and never call in the office what about those bad detor's ?? We try to do our work productivly and the right way to not brake any laws, and yes we do have classes and books on how to try to become better collectors and help the people.
** but my questions is this what about the eveil people that hide and hide there cars and give us false inforamtion about there credit they have a new 2004 turck ,. and loving it ! yet when we find them and take there car away with out even letting them know ! well those people are angree and then send these letters to rip off report.
** or even a better one , they purchase a used vehicle it brakes down on them and they dont want to continue paying becuase it broke down!
Come on ,! we didnt choose this vehicle for this customer they did , they went to the dealer and choose this vehicle and didnt care to get a 19% APR , and when they feel that they dont want to continue making payments becuase car doesnt work ! well that is our fault !
customer still needs to continue making payments, untill they settle account or pay off completly....

I saw your posting and wasn't surprised that LBAC hasn't changed there ways. A few years ago I was a customer of LBAC and had THE worst experience of my life. Considering this was the first car I ever financed I was so unprepared for this overwhelmingly evil company. I lost sleep. I was on edge and I even lost a few friends because of their illegal collection practices. Enough was Enough! I posted a cry for help on this site and was contacted by an attorney that was working on ANOTHER case sueing this company due to a violent repossesion a current client experienced at the hands of this company.I had credit problems prior to working with them and I think a lot of people that land in LBAC lap comes from shakey credit past which is why they think they can abuse its customers. Well I sued and WON the case- due to a gag order I can't say extactly what I won. I guess the real victory was the attorney since he got more than half the settlement.What I DO know is LBAC were suppose to start following collections laws and that it's agents were suppose to have posted in their cubes and reviews about collections law. As I see from all the postings they are not doing this---big surprise. DO NOT sit by quietly and let them abuse you. DO NOT tell them you are going to sue. DO start documenting EVERY incident that happens with you and LBAC. This is part of the reason why I won my case!
