Ordered a product on Amazon.com in June, 2014. At the end of the transaction there was a popup- which lasted no more than a couple of seconds, saying I had received a "free gift". If there was a terms and agreement link, it closed before I could read it.
Received a bottle of Lumanelle "anti-aging" lotion, which was virtually empty, and which I would never have ordered. I discarded it. Discovered I had been charged $4.95 for shipping. Rather than pay again to return it, I discarded it.
In July, I received another bottle - and this time discovered my card had been charged $89.95 + shipping. Again I discarded the product; but because of a busy travel schedule, did not take immediate steps to track this company down and stop it.
Again in August, I received a third bottle, and a charge of $89.95 + shippiong. I will return this shipment - at my expense.
I contacted the company (call center in the Phillipines), and demanded that they refund the charges. The person I spoke with insisted I had visited the Lumanelle website, signed the Terms and Agreement link, and ordered the product. None of this is true.
I had never heard of Lumanelle, had no interest in ordering their product, never visisted their website, and never signed a terms agreement online. I had ordered a totally different product on Amazon.com, and Lumanelle popped up as a "free gift", which I had no chance to read or decline.
I called my bank; but Wells Fargo was less than helpful. Put me in a 3-way call to Lumanelle, listened to their customer service rep, and agreed that I must have signed a terms agreement, which I was responsible for cancelling. Appently debit cards are not included in the Fair Credit Billing Act.
So - I am out $100 for a worthless product that I never ordered, from a company I never heard of. These people know what they're doing.
