In the beginning of Feb '08, I saw a commercial on TV for a product called "magicJack". I was intrigued as I always want to save money, and they advertised $19.95 a year for phone service. I was currently using Vonage, which did save me money, but their prices were also steadily rising, so I thought I would give it a try.
On the 5th of February, I ordered a magicJack. Two days later, on the 7th, I recieved it in the mail. After finding out they did not have a local phone number in my state (IN - they lied and said they had numbers in all 50 states), I returned it.
On Feb. 12th, I recieved the email and instructions from returns@magicjack.com for how to return it, and I followed them and did so. I shipped the product back to them on the 22nd, and on the 25th I recieved confirmation via the USPS (I had paid extra to recieve delivery confirmation and the package had to be signed for) that the package had been delivered.
Ten days later, ON the 30th day of my trial, I found a charge of $46.90 to my card. I immediately opened a chat on their website, and talked to "Leslie". I was told that I would immediately be refunded my money. I checked back for the next week, and still had not recieved the money.
I then went back and talked to "Maggie". She promised the same thing, this time telling me to wait 5 days and the money will be refunded. I checked back this morning (this has been two weeks now) and still had not been refunded. So, this morning, I again went to magicjack.com and this time talked to "Solomon". He this time did not even say I would be refunded the money. I was told this time that I needed to stop contacting them and that within 24 to 48 hours I would be recieving an email from the company as to what was going to happen next.
At this point, I will wait for the email, and if I still have not been refunded the money, I will be hiring a lawyer.

#1 Consumer Suggestion
Magicjack Customer Service
AUTHOR: Jeff - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Sunday, March 23, 2008
I purchased this product last week. It arrived promptly and worked as advertised, however, I did have two isses with them.
1. They did not have the area code I was expecting despite it being listed on their website as available.
2. I purchased 5 years of service and my account profile only showed 1 year of service.
I IM'd them on their online customer service chat and was assured that my area code was going to be available soon and I could change it when it was. On the account issue they said that the account would update automatically 3-7 days after I activated it (it has only been 4 days since I activated it).
Being skeptical, I emailed the owner of the company (Dan Borislow) who has posted here with the information I was concerned about. I sent that email at 12:43 am this morning. At 8:01am (Sunday by the way) I received a reply directly from Dan advising me the same thing that the customer service chat person said.
He copied his response to 3 of his people. At 9:02 I received another email from one of them advising that due to the large number of new customers in my area code that they temporarily ran out of numbers to assign and that would be rectified in 10 days. At that time I could change my number. He also advised me that I would not have to chase them for informationon the account term and that I will be advised when that is fixed.
BOTTOM LINE: This company appears to be genuinely interested in their customers. They respond instantly if you talk to the right people. Anyone with issues with this company just need to email Dan. He provided his email address in another post here and I can testify to the fact that they do respond. I am comfortable enough to recommend this company and its product to others and at least one of my colleagues have purchased from them with satisfaction. All you read here are about the bad guys - let's not unreasonably tar those who are not bad . BTW - I dont work for them, have any connection them in any way. I am just a satisfied customer - at least for now.
I would be interested in hearing other's experience.
