Please DO NOT use this office! They are the biggest scam lawyers I've met and they make other lawyers look bad. A family member's immigration case was being handled by them. We ended up being handled by them--they took all of our life savings.
If you call to ask about ANYTHING, your bill, your case, update your mailing address, you get $500.00 tacked onto your bill for calling them!!!! I am not joking.
Unfortunately, my family member wasn't a native English speaker and we were not versed in client rights so we got scammed.
Argh! They make me so angry.
Oh, and another thing is: Notice that most of their lawyers quit the firm after a year or so. Also notice that most of their "practicing" lawyers are pending bar approval.

#5 UPDATE EX-employee responds
Manchanda is just evil
AUTHOR: nyc attorney - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Friday, June 03, 2011
I love these comments. 100% true. But you said most of the lawyers quit this firm after a year or so...It's more like 1-3 months even in a horrible economy. So much for being the "best" immigration firm in NYC. Sometimes he has a lawyer that stays relatively long. This person is generally his "Senior Managing Attorney" AKA his partner in crime. I hope everyone who has held that title goes down with him. He has another lawyer called "In House Counsel" who handles all the complaints, lawsuits and fee disputes filed AGAINST him. This person also files Rahul's many BS complaints against former staff (hurts when we leave doesn't it), reputable attorneys, Immigration Judges, Police, former clients, etc. I have never heard of a small immigration law firm or any immigration law firm for that matter needing such a person because most normal firms do not rip people off. They actually provide quality legal services and the best ones don't even NEED to advertise. Imagine writing on your resume that you spend your time defending Rahul Manchanda and filing fake complaints for him.
People also file complaints against this con artist at the Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR)
http://www.justice.gov/eoir/eoirforms/eoir44.pdf
The EOIR takes complaints seriously. I hope he is soon disbarred. How the %$!*&%$ is this attorney even allowed to practice law?!! He is by far the worst attorney, whether immigration or not, that I have ever met.

YES THEY DO CHARGE FOR EVERY CALL YOU MAKE
AUTHOR: Min - (United States of America)

I to am a victim of this law firm and yes they do charge for every single phone you make. You have to make several calls in order to have an update on your case. They never call you with an update because chances are there is no update because they have done nothing with your case. They only call you when they want money and boy do they want it ASAP or they will threaten to drop your case. They are a LIAR's not lawyers and its mostly the MANCHANDA himself that is the good liar. His staff is constanly changing getting fired and I am sure he doesnt even pay them. I can not wait to hear on the news that he got arrested for being a CROOK AND A LIAR to all the poor people that he has ripped off besides me.

#2 UPDATE Employee
Manchanda Law Offices PLLC Do the Best That They Can Do to Satisfy Clients
AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Monday, May 18, 2009
First and foremost, Manchanda Law Offices PLLC does NOT charge their clients when they call to ask questions about billing, updating a mailing address and/or any other general questions specifically directed to and answered by an Office Manager.
Second, the law firm does bill when a client calls their attorney several hundred times throughout the day and wants case status updates every minute. Why? Because when a client calls to ask for a case status updates they also call to ask questions with regards to the next steps that need to be taken on their case, they call to ask for copies of documents in their file, they call to discuss strategy, they call because they are nervous, they call because there is an emergency, they call because they want to discuss different options and they call because they are paying for valuable intellectual property by hiring an attorney and they want to be informed at all times of what is going. With good quality of service comes time, energy and unfortunately cost. However, when a client hires an attorney, they are ALREADY aware of the fact that it will be expensive.
Third, making the decision to hire an attorney and to spend the money is nobody's decision but the client's. Everything they will be paying for is already outlined in something called a retainer agreement. They should read it, digest it and fulfill it once they sign it. Sometimes clients expect that their account can go into negative $7,000, they do not have to pay-off their retainer and that an attorney will continue to work on their case pro bono. Many attorneys have worked pro bono on cases and I know for a fact that Manchanda Law Offices PLLC has worked pro bono on many cases, one in particular soaring over $160,000 in legal fees owed. They strive to make clients happy and to help them achieve their dreams. Manchanda Law Offices PLLC has helped hundreds and hundreds of satisfied clients. If clients have had financial difficulties, the firm has provided them with payment plans. If the case simply requires too much work due to its complexity, the retainer has not been fulfilled and/or the payment plans have not been fulfilled, then a realization needs to be made by the client that they simply cannot afford an attorney.
Fourth, Manchanda Law Offices PLLC is one of the best law firms in the country, it has changed the business of immigration law, it uses both criminal and immigration attorneys to handle cases, it is run by one of the best immigration attorneys in the country and it is located on one of the most famous streets in the world - With good quality comes cost; yet, their cost is not even that expensive.
Fifth, other law firms' attorney rates can range from $350 per hour to upto $1,000 per hour. Please check this article out from http://legalcareers.about.com/b/2009/01/07/law-firm-billing-rates-skyrocket.htm:
"Law Firm Billing Rates Skyrocket
Wednesday January 7, 2009
$1,260 per hour. That's the new record high for attorney billing rates according to the National Law Journal's annual billing survey. Despite the slowing economy, legal fees continued to climb in 2008 with nearly 71% of law firms reporting a rate increase. The average firmwide billing rate for 2008 was $363 per hour, compared with $348 in 2007.
The most expensive hourly rate came from White & Case, which reported the high end of its billing rate as $1,260/per hour for partners and $920/hour for associates. The firm's average partner billing rate was $747 per hour.
What does the continued rise in legal fees mean for legal professionals? According to industry experts, cost-conscious clients may pull more work in-house or negotiate harder for alternative fee arrangements such as flat fees or blended rates."
Manchanda Law Offices hourly billing rate is extremely reasonable when you do the research and when you compare their hourly rate to other firms, their standards of billing to other firms and their retainer agreements to other firms - they are almost identical. In fact, you will come to the conclusion that this law firm is extremely fair compared to other firms and it has a standard policy practiced by many other law firms in New York and across the country.
