Commercial disparagement is a tort which may be applicable to lawyers or doctors who wish to sue Mark Britton.  Business or commercial disparagement is the publication of derogatory information about a person's business, or anything else made for the purpose of discouraging people from dealing with the individual.  It is based in tort, and a business or person may have a claim against Mark Britton for the writting publication of a disparaging statement concerning that business.  Reading reviews of disgruntled clients on lawyers selected randomly, it seems that every third lawyer has some comment written about him from som disgruntled client who has an axe to grind, and the most popular words seem to be "dishonest" "fraudster" "rip off" "unethical" etc.  The tort is quite broad and covers an individual's business reputation, such as a charge that a business is incompetent, dishonest or unethical. If it humiliates the lawyer, and makes society shun him in terms of new business, I would think Judges would be keen on protecting that lawyer's reputation, notwithstanding Mark Britton standing on his house-of-cards throne as the King of Lawyer Bashing.  What he has done with lawyers' reputations, quite frankly, as a professor of law, I find disgusting. It surely must lead to loss of sales, loss of new clients, loss of reputation.  I think the more lawyers sue Mark Britton under this tort cause of action, the more Avvo might move on to other more noble things, like defending Lisa Bloom from all those rumors about her being Mark Britton's w***e.
