Master Craftsman Brampton Master rip off scam artists Brampton Ontario

I saw an ad for The Master Craftsman in the local paper and contacted them to quote me to refinish a dining room table and hutch/china cabinet. The pieces are 30 years old and needed to be refinished. It was my father's furniture and I have it now so I was willing to spend good money to restore it.
A salesman by the name of Keith came to our house to quote us on the unit. He said to refinish everything ti would be $10,000. The hutch and china cabinet were only slightly damaged in a couple spots and didn't need to be completely refinished. Keith and I went through everything and he said they could do the table and a minor touch up job on the hutch/china cabinet and reupholster the chairs for approximately $5000.00. He said they may not be able to match the stain exactly but it would be close and I said fine as long as the table and hutch/china cabinet match that is all I care about. The chairs were in ok condition and I didn't want to refinish them as well.
I figured it would cost about that so I was willing to move forward. Keith explained he was not one of the salesman and his boss would be unhappy that he didn't sell a complete refinish but he was more concerned with me being satisied with their work.
He pulled out his binder to show all the various companies that lie in their advertising and how one company will have many different names and they are one of the few companies that use dip tanks and do all the work by hand. He assured me they do quality work and have been in business for 35+ years and guarantee satisfaction.
I said ok lets go ahead with it. I felt confident in their work and felt I was dealing with a reputable company.
He charged my credit card immediately for a deposit of about 1/3 of the total price and indicated the remaining balance needed to be certified cheque. He called the office and they had a delivery truck in the area and the unit was picked up that night. I was quoted 6-8 weeks.
The next week I had to go out of town for a couple weeks and while away I received a call from the Master Craftsman. They told me they were concerned about my furniture and wanted to talk to me before doing anything. It turns out a minor touch up doesn't include restaining or something to that affect and the table wouldn't match the hutch. I didn't have my quote with me so I was at a loss. I told the person that Keith and I had gone through it and to talk to keith. I get a call a couple days later and she has talked to Keith but it turns out I need a major touch up but they can match the stain that was on the unit. It would cost an extra $1000.00. I figured I was in deep enough and said ok go ahead. Just before delivery I was contacted by someone asking about Scotchguard for the chairs and that was an extra $136.00. I said ok to that and arranged delivery.
When my furniture showed up and they brought it in I noticed the back panel on the china cabinet had drip marks from the stain and the backing wasn't flush with the hutch. The chairs had more damage than I remember and when they set my table up it was wobbly ( it never wobbled in 30 years previously).
The driver called the office and told me someone would contact me about the hutch. I had to call them to get someone to come out after waiting for about 2 weeks. They finally sent someone out and he was very good and fixed the door that wouldn't close on the hutch but he had to take the back panel back to the shop. He tried to fix the table but it seems that the shivs don't quite fit anymore for some reason so I need to figure out how to stop the wobble myself. A few weeks later I called and they said my piece would be delivered next week. I called next week to confirm and it turns out my piece wasn't finished yet. They said next week it would be delivered. I asked if it would be someone who knows how to put the backing on and she assured me the drivers know how to do that. I wasn't about to let a truckdriver reinstall the backing and told her so. She said she would look into it and call me back. An installer did show up and he tried to fix the backing but I still had the same problem with it not lining up flush and there was an area that you could see that was unstained and now there was a new area of damage on the backing. I was told it was being inspected by their quality controller and that they wanted to make sure it was perfect prior to delivery. I saw the damage immediately and have to wonder who does their quality control. The installer called the office and said someone would call me and they would need to bring the whold china cabinet back to the shop. This was right before Christmas so they said I would get a call after Christmas. I still hadn't received a call as of the first week of the new year. I started this late August and over 4 months and $5500.00 later I still don't have a finished piece. The installer wrote the name of the operations manager on my invoice but I misplaced it. I called last week to try and find out the name but the lady on the phone said she would look into it and call me back.
Alll they do is put you off and hope you go away. That is why the big deposit and certified cheque so you can't get your money back and you've paid to much to stop.
