On several occasions, he had guaranteed us "100%" that he was going to pour concrete on set date.  For 2 months we heard several excuses of why he did not show up.  Stair railing (and eventually stairs) had been ripped from wall leaving large holes and nails hanging out.  He claimed the steps were rotted out and needed to be replaced anyway.  This is untrue.  My house is only 5 years old.  Also, my boyfriend spoke to the worker that was framing and laying down some of the gravel asking if he was now working for Matt Rex.  His response was, "No.  Im just the guy that drinks beer."  We were left with the eyesore of a partially framed area, with some of the required rocks and some rebar for almost a month.   We had to weed-eat the grass that had grown up through the rocks, it had been so long.  After 2 months of excuses, he finally poured the concrete.  After he applied the first layer of antiquing, he asked for the remaining balance of the contract so that he could pay the concrete company.  I paid the remaining $1000.00.   For the next month or so, I had the concrete supplier showing at my house up looking for him because the concrete on my property was not paid for.  It has now been over a month and the additional layer of antiquing and sealant has not been applied and he is eluding our emails, phone calls and text messages.















Part 2 to the project is a roof.  I had given him a deposit to purchase supplies.  I would not have normally given so much up front, but he was supposedly a friend of ours.  On several instances we were told the supplies were ordered and ready to be delivered.  Then the excuses started with why the work could not be done and why the supplies werent delivered.  We contacted the sub-contractor directly to get the project underway.  He showed up on time ready to work, but no supplies were delivered.  We finally were able to extract the truth.  Our money had been misappropriated and applied towards work for other clients. After doing some research, I see that he has a tax lien as well as other judgments against him.  The money could have very well wet towards that as well.
