My daughter inquired with this company recently.  We saw their company in The Wedded Bliss January 2010 issue.  Their ad said that they had "Over 25 years of Combined Experience in the Musical Entertainment field".  We never thought that The Wedded Bliss would allow someone to falsely advertise their business or their experience.  The ad is terribly misleading.

The Wedded Bliss not do their homework.  After we inquired with Mattox Entertainment, we found out Ron and Norma Mattox have only DJ'd a handful of events since they opened their business in late 2009.  These people don't have no experience as disc jockeys except for a few weddings and Chamber of Commerce parties.

A co-worker of mine used Mr. and Mrs. Mattox for his son's wedding and it was odd.  He said that the guy running the equipment looked either confused or angry most of the time.  I don't know who the guy was.  Definitely not people I would want at my daughter's wedding.  I've read some comments about Mattox Entertainment on this website and it's so sad that The Wedded Bliss will let ANYONE advertise in their magazine.  I thought that The Wedded Bliss was a reliable source for East Texas wedding vendors.  I guess I was wrong.  I am posting these comments for my co-worker's sake and any brides in East Texas who might thinking of hiring this company.  A wedding day is too important to take a risk.

Pleased with Mattox Entertainment

AUTHOR: Michael - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, January 17, 2010

My wife and I recently attended a private party in Marshall, Texas.  It was a festive event with music hosted by Mattox Entertainment.  The set up was well equipped and professional, the music selection was varied and most of all, FUN!  Everyone had a great time.

We've known Ron Mattox for several years both personally and profesionally and have always found him to be a man of integrity.  The first poster seemed to have the biggest problem with The Wedded Bliss publication and didn't have any personal experience with Mattox Entertainment. She relayed second hand information from a co-worker that had used their services but didn't mention anything about them being unhappy with the job they did.

After reading the negative comments about Mattox Entertainment, one has to question the motives of the authors.  They were purportedly written as a warning to "unsuspecting" consumers but I'm more inclined to think it was a nasty attempt to disparage good people trying to make an honest living.

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company

What a cut throat world

AUTHOR: Eagle - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, January 11, 2010

First of all, let me start by saying that we have a personal friend, who is also a fellow competitor, who told us at the beginning of our business venture, that it was very much a "cut throat business".  Unfortunately this report, combined with additional personal experience, has confirmed that his words to us were true.

Let it be known that this report is completely false.  Where do we start?

The first allegation is that "you put your event at risk by hiring this company".  Mattox Entertainment has a long list of clients that have been extremely satisfied and has not had any difficulty in submitting their reviews or testimonials on leading wedding and business websites.  As active members of our local chamber of commerce, there would be no difficulty in validating our business ethics and reputation.

The second allegation made, please note that this report was filed on November 25th, 2009, is "they are an advertiser in The Wedded Bliss".... This statement is false, based on the fact that we were not advertisers at the time this report was filed.  We have spoken to the Editor In Chief and the Sales Representative of The Wedded Bliss just recently, in depth, and were told that one of the requirements to be an advertiser of their magazine is to successfully pass a background check.  So the statement "that the editor did not do a background check on these people", is false, as well.

"They have absolutely NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE".  Experience in what?  Our company consists of experience in recording, performance, music composition, music ministry, planning and coordinating, and this spans over 25 years of combined experience.  In order to be successful in the DJ service industry, one must have at least some level of experience in most of the fields listed above.  For instance, how can one be a DJ without having experience in music equipment such as mixers and amplifiers?  How can one be a DJ without the knowledge of sound theory?

"Would not commit to tell me what my choices were" in regard to pricing:  First of all, when contacted by email, when a sender does not provide a valid contact number, the only recourse is to provide a range of pricing.  This is due to the inability, at the time, of not being able to meet with the client to discuss the needs and particulars of an event.  In sales, consumers will purchase based on value and not price alone.  Providing a price without consultation, prohibits the ability to quote an exact price to show value.  As noted in this report, a price range was given for the service that was described.

Beginning in April, 2009, Mattox Entertainment agreed to subcontract some events for a company who states they trained Mattox, to provide MC and DJ services for that company. That company furnished Mattox Entertainment their music database to be used specifically for their sub-contracted events.  At no time has Mattox Entertainment used any other database but its own for Mattox Entertainment events.  Mattox Entertainment allowed that company to personally and completely remove their music database.  Mattox Entertainment legally owns and maintains it's own music database for its events and has for quite some time.  Mattox Entertainment has always had a very sufficient music database for their own contracted events.

Because Mattox Entertainment has been falsely accused of copying private documents by this company, our company has consulted with legal counsel, who has reviewed all documents of Mattox Entertainment, and it has been determined that the documents referred to contain generic legal language that is used by most companies today.

Mattox Entertainment is certain of the person who penned this report, and based on that is also aware that they have obtained a bachelor's degree from a prominent university, in marketing, and should surely know what the term "Act of God" means.  Mattox Entertainment is currently seeking legal counsel on these matters.
