I know this better than most because I also worked at the YMCA and was / am fully aware of his substance abuse problems as he very often came to work high as a kite or drunk - rather, he is a functioning alcoholic. I often overheard Mr. Gonzalez non stop talking about the fathers of many of the kids that were in his care. He was obsessed with these men and rattled on about the 100s of men he'd been with and as soon as a child approached him with a question or something he snapped and would either degradingly baby talk to the child or yell at them for interrupting his non stop chatter.
