In July 2012 my husband and I went to Puerta Vallarta for our anniversary. We were approached on a rainy day to view the Grand Bliss and Grand Mayan resort. We were picked up by cab and taken to the resort. While the resort was nice, we were not interested in the resort or the area. The salesperson kept saying they didn't want you to come back and use the resort. He further kept telling us that we could market the resort and that we would receive our money back in the first six months. He aslo gave us 2 vida weeks to use each year and that would be our vacation week for us. He said the club that has the Vida weeks had such properties as Marriott and Four Seasons. Further he stated they didn't want us to use our property because we would be making money every year on our week that we purchased and we would receive money if we did go to our Mayan property as we were suppose to earn money on every dollar spent by the people using our week.

We looked at the vida vacations when we came home and periodically throughout the year. This appeared to be just another way of marketing unused inventory and to get you to purchase through their exchange company. Very little vacation for $199.00 as promised and most in Mexico. So basically the 2 bonus vida weeks were a joke. We came home and immediately put our week in the marketing company they gave us information on, see seperate filed conplaint on them, at another fee of $664.89. This was just another scam, they advertise they are short on inventory, however I have not found they manage to market any Mayan property. So now we are out our week plus $664.89 on top of maintenace fee for 2013. Now 2014 I have paid my maintenance fee for fear of my credit standing, however Mayan says I can only put it to an exchange company since I cannot get my money back. I had the week transferred to an exchange company they allowed, see separte report filed on them, last week, wow thats a joke also. I tried to do an online exhange  giving dates for all of 2014 and they show no exchanges for my studio, but offered 5 peoperties and I was to pay an upgrade fee of $499.00 to $599.00 since their exchange was a 1BR. Says I can put in a request, but most on the internet says their request are not filled. I found it interesting that most of the 5 properties were in Mexico and happened to be properties I could buy from a reputable exchange company, I currently am a member with, extra vacations for the same price.

I have been scammed enough. Having now paid 2 years of maintenace and $664.89 to a marketing company that is also a scam, I intend to do whatever it takes to receive a refund and cancel this contract.

Mayan Palace Timeshare Scam

AUTHOR: BetzabethT - ()

POSTED: Thursday, February 27, 2014

I was convinced by Mayan Palace timeshare salespeople that an upgrade to my timeshare from Mayan Palace to Mayan Place Regency would make it easier to rent and more saleable. I entered into a contract for $6,720.00 to complete this upgrade. I have since learned that this upgrade is doing nothing for me as I try to sell and rent the unit. The list of benefits is this:Elite Reservations rental program (which I had available before),RCI enhanced pkg, certificates for cruise and vacation discounts, 50% off golf green fees (previously it was 20%), senior certificare (I'm NOT a senior), no mandatory maintenance fees after 5 years if I don't use the property?? Lots of free extra benefits and vacation bonuses but nothing tangible. I owe a cash out of $4,368.00. I wonder what the consideration of this contract is? I have all the paperwork and had to email the sales office to get a list of benefits I paid for.

Mayan Palace Timeshare Scam

AUTHOR: BetzabethT - ()

Do NOT go to a Mayan Palace Timeshare presentation! We tried to say no until we were so tired of it we agreed to a 90 minute presentation for $100 USD per couple and 10% off of our charges for the week. The 90 minutes became 150 minutes. Each time they were ready to let us leave a different person prevented us from leaving. Very rude and dishonest. I had to express anger at the fifth person before they showed us the door. This left a sour taste in our mouths for the last few days.

Mayan Palace Timeshare Scam

AUTHOR: DeborahM - ()

POSTED: Friday, February 21, 2014

We bought it in 2010 and we stayed for the first time in 2012. Nuevo Vallarta--just trying to learn what's new with the company turns into a mayan palace timeshare presentation! Pushy, pushy people trying to sell us more time when we have more than what we can use. It never last 90 minutes, even when they know that we won't buy. The last time, a woman kept telling us that we better buy now so we won't have to pay the five years of maintenance for improvements. I think that car salesmen are saints after dealing with these people! I want nothing more to do with these mega resorts because all they do is lie!
