McKenzie/Scott of Denver, Colorado ripped me off! They promised expert assistance, consistant coaching, and close monitoring of an executive search campaign designed specifically for me. After paying $12,000, traveling to their offices in Denver for a day and half of meetings, I received a resume and a couple lists of potential companies and access to their website. But, most importantly, I found that the expertise that they touted and promised, did not materialize and was not offered to direct me in developing and implementing a sucessful campaign. Followup (after I sent in my check) effectively stopped. Ocassionaly when I did call, I would receive a return call the following day or two. While I do understand that I must play a major role in my own campaign, I needed some assistance and direction. I did not get it. However, I must surely have the most expensive resume on record. When I engaged McKenzie/Scott, I was the executive Vice President of an distribution company that operated in the western states. I knew a termination was in the future and decided to be proactive in my search. I have never had to look for a job in my years of working and frankly told my campaign team that I did not know how to go about this and would probably need more coaching and direction than their typical client. Everyone, from the initial sales person thru several campaign consultants over a two year period, stated that this extra coaching and direction would not be a problem. Average statitics were quoted and some very short campaigns examples were given as probable. Before paying, I was informed that the "management team" had to review my qualifications and "accept" me as a client. I was made to wait for this decision for about a week and then, I was finally accepted. From that point on, my qualifications were discussed as an asset and not a liability. My education was good and supposidly in great demand. My many years of experience was also a strong plus. The total of my experience with McKenzie/Scott generated absolutely no response. After a year and a half, I complained to their upper management and demanded a refund. Instead, they agreed to re-do my campaign from the bottom up. After 10's of thousands of e-mail distributions, faxes and US mailings - done twice now - over a two year period, not one good lead materialized. No interviews, no calls, and no offers. Equally surprising, I received no calls initiated by my compaign team. The only contact I did have with them was communications that I initiated. I was truly alone in my job search without the expertise and know-how that they advertised. Even today, I am still an active client of theirs and cannot get a return call from anyone! My advise would be to look around. I would suggest you check with the BBB and the Attorney General's Office in the respective state. I would also suggest you visit This experience has just been an expensive reminder of the old adage "Let the buyer beware"! Sam Glendale, Arizona

CLICK HERE to see how other consumers were victimized by the BBB's false or misleading information. Don't be fooled! It has been reported, when there are thousands of complaints and other investigations underway by authorities, the BBB has no choice but to finally give an UNsatisfactory rating to a BBB member business that is paying the BBB big membership fees every year. When a business is reported that is NOT a BBB member, BBB files WILL more likely show an UNsatisfactory rating, then reportedly shake down that company to become a member of the BBB. One positive thing about the BBB is, either way, if a business has an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB, you can be sure, the business is bad. But what about all those BBB member businesses that had complaints filed against them? Consumers never get to hear about them. What about the BBB advertising to the public? Is this a false and misleading perception they are giving about consumer confidence when dealing with a business? Click here to understand more of what consumers and business alike are saying about the BBB. You decide. ..Remember. The BBB membership is not earned, its paid for!
