Warning to all, do not make the same mistake I did. I replied to an ad online that led me to believe jobs were available. How wrong I was! This very deceptive ad had requested personal information before you could go anywhere on the site. I gave in and filled it out. Subsequently, I received a phone call from a person representing McKenzie Scott. I was telephoned multiple times each day by this person extolling the virtues of signing up with McKenzie Scott. Bottom line - I bought into his sales and marketing pitch to sign-up with McKenzie Scott and gave him $5,500 hard earned dollars. This was after we negotiated from the initial asking price of $9,500(RED FLAG #1). I feel like a total fool. After I signed they scheduled an appointment for me for my person to person consultation. End result is that they did less than nothing for me - gave me some good looking materials, had me go to New Jersey for a seminar to learn ABSOLUTELY NOTHING new(RED FLAG #2). The pitch I received from the rep concerned their exclusive dB. With their proprietary application they have the most extensive open position dB pulled from business publications, newspapers, listings from corporations, etc.; and I would be having interviews within 10 12 weeks and offers shortly thereafter. What I found was a list of many of the job sites I already had been searching the prior four months. When I met with my search consultant Jay Ashton based in New Jersey he preached on all the topics that most individuals searching for a position already know about: NETWORKING, REVIEW THE WALL STREET JOURNAL for opportunities and he downplayed the dB(RED FLAG #3). Nothing like agreement and continuity within an organization. I should have walked out right then and there. However I spoke with my rep and he told me the dB was the key to success. Within three weeks of my signing with McKenzie/Scott my rep who stopped returning my calls left the firm(RED FLAG #4). I basically gave up on McKenzie Scott in my second month because I found they were all smoke and NO SUBSTANCE. This past July 7th I finally wrote to them to express my disappointment with the firm, people( who would either not return calls until weeks later or not respond to emails at all) requesting a refund. On July 22nd I received a call from Jim Zuzzolo, V.P. in charge of their New Jersey office looking to resolve the problem. He offered to either redo the whole marketing plan or issue a refund. I told Mr. Zuzzolo that I appreciate the offer to start over but I rather go separate ways at this time. He asked me how much I felt I should be returned and he said that the amount was greater than he was authorized to do. He would forward a summary of our conversation to Paul in their Colorado headquarters and that Paul would be in touch with me no later than the 25th of July. On July 28th Paul called. I repeated all that I said to Jim Zuzzolo and subsequently received a letter with his proposal. Besides the fact that Paul's proposal is insulting his letter states a clause in a contract that is different from the agreement I signed. Also I have never ever received an executed agreement from McKenzie Scott after I had signed with them. I REPEAT DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS FIRM. Vincent Cornwall, New York

Vincent, glad to hear that "all is resolved". However, is it resolved?

AUTHOR: Robin - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, August 25, 2003

Vincent,

I read your original complaint and it really sounded as though there were some tough issues therein.

And I read your update rebuttal. If this has been resolved, that is wonderful. However, the style of writing in your update bothers me somewhat.

It reads like some legalese that you have copied from some lawyer's letter, perhaps under duress. Have you been threatened in this matter with libel, perhaps?

Just wondering if all is truly as well as McKenzie Scott or their lawyers would have readers of this site believe.

A word to the circling lawyers that gather around this site: if your clients have truly reached settlement with the complainant and it is agreed that an update be placed here to that effect, let the original poster tell it in his/her own words! It is much more believable.

You legal grinds are obvious from a mile away and your rote legalese always makes me wonder if all is on the up-and-up in the update. Why would a poster on this site be getting letters from lawyers unless it was for some type of legal action???

You don't fool anybody with this nonsense! Go jump!
