I worked for Media All Stars (MAS) in 2012 and it was truly a horrible experience.
Im a good Christian woman who comes from a strong sports background having played softball and basketball in high school and college. When I applied with MAS I was attracted to the business because they supposedly helped support high school sports and the owners Buddy & Nicki Cummings were Christians. I am a devoted Christian and can say that I didnt see much Christianity while I was employed with Media All Stars.
I quickly found both assumptions to be false.
Lets start with the high schools..
Media All Stars pays 35% of the net proceeds to the teams, which after factoring in the owners multiple luxury cars like their lexas and Mercedes, leaves very very little for the teams. In most cases, NO MONEY was EVER sent to the teams. I was on the sales floor, but was close with the reps in the school relations department and they were always arguing with high schools regarding no or low donation checks. Many high schools would try to cancel their contract but management would continue to have the sales floor call the community businesses and collect payments in the form or credit cards and checks which they would then pocket! I came to find that several of the closers were earning more than $100,000 per year and here they are not even sending checks to many of the schools they were fundraising for. I would field numerous calls from sponsors who paid for an ad, but then Media All Stars never printed a poster and refused to refund the sponsors money. I was shocked out how poorly MAS treated the community and the businesses who were trying to help support the high school teams. Media All Stars would strong arm high schools into allowing them to continue to run campaigns in the community even after the high school cancelled their agreement.
Now lets talk about the staff.
While I was employed with Media All Stars I would see 10 new sales reps hired each week and only maybe 1 or 2 were retained after the first. There was NO training program and the environment was very cut throat. They hired ex-cons, drug dealers, criminals, sexual predators and many other thugs and gangsters who would say anything to get the sales. The closers would even change the names on the leads to get credit, STEALING FROM THE SALES REPS WHO ACTUALLY SOLD THE DEAL.
Trevor was the general manager and he knew exactly what was going on and always turned his head to act like he didnt notice. Buddy and Nicki Cummings, the owners, were also well aware of all the bad things there were taking place in the company and simply sat aback and racked in the cash.
I STRONGLY advise high schools to think twice, and three times, before signing up with Media All Stars! You will be greatly disappointed when your community is mad at you for outsourcing to such a bad company and when you dont get a donation check.
Sincerely,
iLuv HighSchool Sports

More Truth about Media All Stars

I received a call from this outfit today with a local number attached. In the conversation the woman asked for the owner of the business and I commented that there was an awful amount of background noise but she asked about supporting local high school sports programs. I asked if she was selling calendars or magnets and she abruptly disconnected the call.
I called the nuber on Caller ID 5 times and each time the call was connected and then the line would go dead but not before I would hear the same background commotion. On the sixth call I guess they figured I would not give up but the call was answered by their voicemail identifying the company as Media All Stars, blah blah blah and how they partner with local high schools for sports funding. let me explain the partnership.
Their reps go online and find the high schools in a geographic area and copy down the name of the coaches or Athletic Director. The phone rep uses this information during their contact with you to make it appear that they are working on a particular school in an attempt to get you to part with money for calendars or posteers for a particular season. if you buy one of their products it will arrive and you go to the school only to find out that there is no relationship, nor was there ever a contact, at the school. You may be asked to hand out your product at an upcoming game or the school may ask you to hand over the goods. Want to spend a Friday night handing out posters at a football game or basketball game? Sign up for this scam and you will be there watching your hard earned dollars go right down the drain.
The schools rarely see a penny of your money since there was never a partnership between the school and Media All Stars. You would think that a legitimate business would answer their phone and be proud of their work and donations. Not this company! Avoid this scam. If you want to amke a donation to the school, drive over and see the AD. He or she will gladly accept your donation

I know who wrote this report about Media All Stars and I will start by saying that the "facts" he wrote about are 100% untrue.
I will first address the comment about the owners of Media All Stars, the Cummings. I feel it is unfair and airs on the side of slander to talk about their religous beliefs or practices since, according to state and federal laws, an employer must leave religon out of the work place. I also address the owners at the end of this.
As the person who wrote the rip off report stated, lets start with the schools.
The information he spoke about as far as %'s back to the school and when checks are sent out, well you only know that if you are involved with the schools. That is why the person who wrote the report tried to clean it up by saying they were close to the people in the school relations dept. Which is really funning to me because the people in the school relations dept at the time the rip off report was written, both worked from home and did not come into the office. So that statement the author wrote is untrue.
As far as schools getting paid, they get paid on time and there are no arguements about "where is my check" or anything like that. Someone on the sales floor has no knowledge of what has been refunded to sponsors or what has been sent to the school. The person who wrote this the original rip off report was pretty much talking about his own business practices I know this because I used to work for him and quit when I found out what he was doing to the communities he works with.
Now the staff,
I touched on this in the last line of the previous paragraph. Sales by nature is a hard job to keep, since if you dont sell it is hard to retain your spot. Media All Stars does have a training program, It goes in stages and they make sure you are comfortable with the first stage before moving to the next. They give you the tools and there are training classes available during lunch, before and after work as well. They give you all the tools you need, its up to you to preform. Isnt that how the real world works? The statment about who they hire also airs on the side of slander considering the state of California is working hard to develope rehab tools for ex cons, this speaks volumes about Media All Stars being a caring and people first company. They are willing to give a person a second chance, they with did to me and I have done nothing but grow in this industry and am now able to take care of my family.
I was very upset to see this person name the GM Trevor by name. Trevor is a good man, he comes in early stays late and cares about the people and schools. He makes sure things are done the right way, ethically and morally and if you are not operating that way you will be fired, I have seen it first hand. They do not tolerate morally corrupt people. The Cummings family are not ruled by money and profit. like most business owners, they hire people they trust to do day to day operations. They are only here once in a while so the statement made by author of the original report about the Cummings is not only misleading but 100% untrue. They do not just talk the talk, they walk the walk. Make a wish, fundraising marathons are just a few of the projects they participate in.
In summary,
The rip off report written about the company I work for, Media All Stars is so misleading and untrue. To be honest it almost seems like a sales pitch from the owner of another fundraising company located in San Diego, wait a minute, it is. I worked for him when he showed me that he wrote it.
I am proud to work for a company like Media All Stars. I am proud and happy that I work for Trevor.
