This company is a sham. I signed up for their policy 3 months ago. $600 per month. Only covers $500 per quarter. I have a family of six and there was well child visits along with some flu like sympton visits. The bills are now rolling in. I am responsible for anything over $500.
If you avoid using this policy,It's great insurance. But expect 2-3 doctor visits every quarter before You start paying huge dollars out of your pocket. My agent say at my kitchen table and lied to my face. Even though I said I wanted to be billed, imagine my surprise when it came out of my account the next month. Agent said this was an oversight and he was going to correct it, but hasn't been corrected yet!
THIS IS A DISCOUNT COVERAGE AND NOT HEALTH INSURANCE. Thank God I discovered this before someone got a serious illness in my home. I could have been wiped out. I had a real agent come over today and showed me several different plans. Left brochures and plan guidelines with me to freview at my leisure. The MEGA scam agent said he needed a check just to apply($600). Everything he said was a lie. STAY AWAY!!!

You said the old plans were pretty bad. I just bought this plan in October of 2006. I was paying $596/month. The bills just keep coming. I switched to an HMO and haven't received a bill yet. I only pay $650 for this plan. Under Mega I paid prescription costs of $50, $50 and $100. You employees should be ashamed of yourselves, trying to still pump this garbage. It doesn't pay the "small bills" and from what I've seen on this site, it doesn't pay the "big bills" either. $1,500 for chemo, per treatment, that is it.
My sister in law is undergoing chemo and the treatments are 7-8000 dollars a piece. Under this plan, she would be financially ruined. I can't believe dirtballs like you are still getting on this post and trying to rebut this. To all reading this, STAY AWAY from this company. NASE is not an independent company looking out for the self employed person. It is directly owned by MEGA and was created to only sell their insurance

Mega's new plans are alot better than they were in the past. You need to think about risk. There is ni such thing as 100% coverage, somewhere down the line you are paying for it. With an HMO you are paying for it up front in high premiums. On an Indemnity plan like Mega's you are paying as you go. Insurance is all about risk, it's where you are comfortable placing that risk. On an HMO you are placing risk on the big bills to have the little bills paid for, with a plan like Mega's you are placing risk on the small bills to have the big bills paid for. I would pay a doctor's office visit all day to have my catastrophic charges covered (big bills). Do the numbers and figure it out. If you are a healthy individual, there is no reason why you should be on an HMO , why pay more than you need to?

You are referring to the old limited scdeduled benefit plans offered through NASE. I am a represantitive through the Alliance for Affordable Services and we just contracted with Mega's new major medical plans. These plans took a 180 degree turn from the old plans which did not pay out very well at all.
New plans are major medical plans that offer everything from your typical PPO style plan to the new consumer driven health plans that provide price transparency BEFORE you go in for medical care. Instead of maxes on how much Mega will pay, there is a deductible and co-insurance max of 4000, before the plan picks up at 100%.
Even better is the new coverage for dr visits, well exams, chiropractor, allergy injections, immunization shots, and diagnostic services. These services are now covered at 100% with no copay or deductible requirements.
All I'm saying is that Mega may not have the BEST track record (what insurance company does?), but NOW they certainly have some of the most competitive insurance plans available in the market to individuals.
