Megawin Promotional Prices Lotto Check Claim Mail Scam ripoff Halifax Nova Scotia

My wife and I received a letter and a check in the mail, in a plain envelope. The letter, outlined below, told us that we had won $34,000.00 and that we were to deposit the check they sent us to cover the "processing fees". Knowing that this sounded WAY too good to be true, but keeping in mind that the check looked entirely too authentic, I checked online and found this site within seconds. Can't say that I'm surprised at all by this.

I'm planning on notifying my local police department. Maybe someone like Dateline will do a story to raise awareness of this scam. I can see this scam working on the elderly and people who don't have access to the internet to do what I, and you, are doing now.
