Megawin Promotional Prices North America Consumer Cash Promotional Draw Ripoff Halifax Nova Scotia

A lettrer is recieved in the mail and it claims that I won $52,000 in the Megawin North American Consumer Cash Promotional Draw that was conducted on Nov. 26, 2006. The letter advises to keep the winnings private until the claim has been processed and payment remitted. The letter claims that this is an integral part of security protocol to avoid participating family memebers from making double or multiple claims to discourage unwarranted abuse of the program. The letter enclosed a check from Sun Trust Bank in the amount $3,622.48, which was dectucted from winnings in the amount of $52,000.00 for processing fees. The letter says not to do anything with the check without contacting the client care manager, in a Nova Scotia area code of 902. When you call the number it goes into a voicemail. I contacted Sun Trust and they said that the check is valid, but it is fradulent, as the checks were stolen from another company. I also contacted the police who indicated that the this is a big scam. both said to destroy the check.
