To: Whom it may Concern
In 2006 We purchased an in ground pool for our handicap son for therapy
from Meiers Outdoor world out of Fox Lake, IL.
We have experienced nothing but problems from this all to be listed below
for which they will not take responsibility.
Our heater for the pool broke down twice in 2006 at which time we asked for
a different heater as we felt it was defective. They neglected to replace it and
serviced this heater.
In 2007 the heater broke down three times that year at which time the Owner
came out for other problems we had and said he would take care of all our
concerns.
After several phone calls to the Company in addressing our problem year
after year we expressed that the heater that they installed was a lemon and
wanted it replaced and we wanted all the other problems fixed.
The heater has broken down all together in 2006 twice, 2007 three times,
2008 four times, 2009 twice, 2010 twice, 2011 one time, and recently in 2012 for
a total of 14 times. They still refuse to replace what is a lemon.
I made a phone call approx 6/25/12 to Meiers and spoke with Dave who I
believe a Service Manager and his statement was " We can install a new heater
for you at cost".
Our response was " We have been going through this since 2006 when the
pool, and heater was installed and failed it should have been replaced when we
asked about it in 2006 and 2007".
He then said " We no longer carry that type of heater because of the
problems we have had and he would have to talk with Steve one of the
owners".
Steve Meiers then called and said that "he had no record of our situation
and would not replace the heater but would send a service tech out to fix the
unit free of charge and would not replace it".
We then said " To have no knowledge of our situation, concerns and
problems is the responsibility of his office staff and we have no control over
the neglect of this situation and if his Company has been out fixing our heater
since 2006 with no charge to us speaks for itself".
We have been going through this for six years and now have no more interest
in being nice.
The Technician Scott who has serviced our heater since 2006, 2007, 2008,
2009, 2010, 2011 and now 2012 said " your heat exchanger is now bad and you need
a new heater that would cost about $1400.00.
This just touches the surface as our pool was installed and drops to the
left, Ladder holes for the ladder installed wrong stopping the ladder from
touching the side of the pool correctly and liner keeps pulling out.
All for which we have called and they refuse to do anything about these
services unless we leave a credit card on file for charges to be applied. This
Company has completely refused to service us under the agreement and contract
that we signed. We have filed a complaint with the BBB AND WE NEED HELP.
Sincerely,
Mark and Deanna Levi

Meier's built a swimming pool in 2006, we provide a two year warranty on the swimming pool from the date of completion. The warranties for the individual equipment installed on the pool are provided through the manufacturer and only they can authorize a full replacement of the product. At that time the heater company didnt feel a full replacement was needed as the issues with the heater were small parts like fuses or ignitors. These are parts that even on brand new equipment can go bad that is why there is a warranty on those parts.
Also the Levi's heaters was serviced for 2 1/2 years after the manufacturer's warranty expired at no cost to the homeowner. This included the parts and labor, this was on routine things that overtime can go wrong. The customer then called and let us know that the heater was leaking which after inspection we found that it was chemical damage and not something that was covered under any warranty. The homeowner wasnt satisfied with that and kept going back to the original installation. So in the summer of 2012 Meier's went out and installed a new heat exchanger at no cost to the homeowner. Meier's also took care of a few other things on the pool also at no cost.
Meier's Outdoor World, Inc. is a family owned business of 50 years and care about all of our customers and want to provide the best service possible. We feel we went above and beyond especially since all of these complaints were all well out of warranty. The Levi's were satisfied with the work we did and we look forward to working with them next spring.

Meier's completed the pool in July 2006. Meier's provides a two year warranty on the swimming pool from the date of completion. The warranty for the individual equipment installed on the swimming pool is provided through the manufacturer can authorize a full replacement of the equipment and at that time they did not authorize the heater to be replaced as the issues the heater had were small parts like fuses or ignitors. It is not un-common for these parts to be faulty even on brand new heaters and that is why there is a warranty.
This heater was also serviced for 2 1/2 years after the manufacturer's warranty expired at no cost the homeowner, that included parts and labor. Meier's Outdoor World, Inc has been a family owned company for 50 years and we have been able to stay in business because we do stand behind our product and our customers.
Since the report back in July 2012 Meier's has once again contacted the homeowner, we sent a representative out to take care of the heater issues plus other issues the homeowner had which all of them were well past the warranty. This was done at no charge to the homeowner and the homeowner is now happy.
