I purchased a large board about 60 inch long from Michaels. I noticed the corner was damaged but I really had to cut the board and ignored it. But soo after I purchased it they refused to take it back when I tried to return it. 'not in original condition' they told me. and it also has a scuff mark. Wow I was blown away, did not realize they would have such rude response. Also at the time of purchase they would not let me use the discount coupon which clearly says any regular price item. So here I am out over $15. And it is not the money part alone because I make lot of purchases there. But there bad customer service and very unreasonable return policy has really turned me off. I hope this complaint leads some where to improve there attitude and may be change their return policy. Lots of items have to be transported and often package must be open before making a decision that item is unusable and must be returned and by that time it is too late because it is not in original condition. Very deceptive return policy. They might as well say not returns.

Why did you try too return damaged merchandise

I do not understand why you would expect ANY company to take back your garbage?? YOU DAMAGED it for goodness sake...How do you think retailers stay in business when consumers like you feel so entitled that its ok to STICK IT to the company with your damaged product? WOW..If you did work in retail you would understand that if you were to take someone like you..who wants something for nothing...multiply it times about 1 million and you will see why the economy is in trouble now....and why we pay China for our products...

Wow, Rik, you must be back on your anti-sociopath meds.
Good response and not urging to have the original report filer commit an illegal/immoral act.
There is hope. :)

What?

I am figuring you mean a foam core type of board. So why did you really have to cut it if it was damaged? Are you saying that this damage wasn't noticed before you cut it?
If it wasn't noticed before you cut it, how do you know you didn't damage it?
As for the coupon, unless you try and buy one of the few "high end" name-brand items(which are listed on the coupon), and it is a regular priced item I have never had an issue with a coupon. What was the reason they stated they couldn't take it?
And before you ask, no I am not an employee but I have been there in the past. Using both coupons and having to do returns.
