Mid Atlantic Finance Co Excess fee's, waffling balances, no resolution to obtain TITLE to VEHICLE Ripoff St. Petersburg Florida

After purchasing a used vehicle from a car lot locally, my financial payments were set on a weekly basis for the first 60 days with the used car dealer. Afterwards, per the agreement it went to twice a month, and on month 5 of the purchase agreement it went to a monthly payment. On month 7 when I dropped off my payment, I was informed that my loan was sold to Mid Atlantic Finance Co in Florida, and that all of the payments I had made would transfer to them. I was given a phone number to call them and give them updates for address and phone number, and to then get a mailing address to send my remaining payments to. I had at that point, 5 payments left to make.

Upon calling, I verified my address and phone number, verified my full coverage insurance and carrier, and Mid Atlantic then gave me my PAST DUE balance OWED and TOTAL balance OWED. Neither of these were correct. I pointed out this error to them, and the conversation immediately spiraled into an arguement. I requested to speak to a Supervisor. The Supervisor informed me that perhaps they had not gotten the full sum of the payments I had made thus far to the used car dealer, and to give it two weeks. Meanwhile send in my regular payment.

I sent my regular payment, and continued sending them for the next 4 months. Now I had NO MORE coupons for payments, and decided it would probably be 3 weeks before I received my title.

After the three weeks, I called to find out where my title was, and once again I was told my balance was still the previous amount they had quoted me over 5 months prior, PLUS interest, PLUS late fee's and they then wanted to verify my address again.

I explained to them that I wanted them to send me PROOF that my balance was still their quoted amount, because I have all receipts paid to my car dealer, and all payments sent to them, which zero balance out.

I did not receive anything from them. I then make copies of my receipts of payments to my car dealer, plus the receipts to Mid Atlantic, highlighting the total amount financed, which equaled the total amount paid.
Still no response. I called again to verify they had received the information I sent, and all they wanted to do was verify my address again, and request I send the late payments.

It has been over 3 years since this fiasco happened, and to date, I do not possess the title to my vehicle, nor has any resolution been obtained.

I spoke to someone recently about Mid Atlantic, and they did not have any accolades to give about this finance company. They compared them to a shady check cashing business.

I need to sell my vehicle at this point, or use it for a trade in for a new vehicle, and simply can not because Mid Atlantic will not release my title.

Most individuals I know who purchased a vehicle and had their loans sold to Mid Atlantic, have used the only avenue for solution in this deal. They scrap the vehicle for parts, and unregister it as a not working vehicle.
I am forced to do the same.
