In June of 2004, I took my car into Midas to get the brakes worked on. The original job went well until about a week later, when driving home, I heard a noise from the back of the car which continued and got worse when I pressed the brake pedal. I took the car back and had them look at it, they had it back later that day, and the brakes were good except for the fact that they didn't bleed them (remove air from the lines, resulting in ineffective brakes and a low pedal). I could not put the car back in the shop, or mention anything to them because I had to get to work, by this point I was already late. So I went an entire day with bad brakes, hoping that no one stopped short in front of me. When I returned the next day, I was irate. I know enough about cars to know exactly what had happened (I couldn't do the brakes myself, I didn't have time or anyplace to do it).

I went into the store said very loudly in front of other customers, "YOU DIDN'T BLEED THE BRAKES!!" The manager looked at me as if I was crazy and said "What do you mean they didn't bleed the brakes? I repeated myself, by this time really upset. He basically said, "Ok, before you start making a scene or anything, let's take a look at it." 2 HOURS later, what do they do? They BLEED THE BRAKES! The whole thing irritated me, you know the whole "I'm the mechanic, you're the customer, I know what I'm doing and you don't" mentality. After the job was done, he drops my car off out front, leaves the keys, and says "It's all set now." Bewildered, I get in my car and drive off. No explanation, no SORRY no offer to make things better, nothing. I will NEVER return to Midas again!!

and since you know it all i most likely dont have to tell you this but if there was air in the line it would not have taken a week for you to notice the air being in the line, you would have felt it right away. Chances are maybe the bleeder wasnt tight, letting fluid leak through at an extremely slow pace, eventually taking a week to leak the complete system out, giving you the low peddle your taking about. Next time you yell "YOU DIDNT BLEED THE BRAKES". maybe you should realize they most likely did, just didnt tighten the bleeder all the way, but what do i know im only ASE certified

haha not saying that what they did was acceptable, it wasnt. What kind of appology do you think you deserve due to making a scene in front of other customers. Human error happens. Like i said i am not saying this is accpetable. Either is you acting like a moron in front of other customers though

#1- FACT - I would not appreciate someone busting in on me and berating me BUT only if I did nothing WRONG!!! #2 FACT- After having my LIFE put in danger (as I said in the follow up to my report- I was understandably upset- AND I raised my voice so other potential ripoff victims (sorry - customers), could hear me, it isn't like I went in there with a f--king gun and threatened to kill someone. #3 FACT- is everyone still WITH me? - The way he reacted with his pompous and holier-than-thou attitude what was really set me off. And finally the fact that he refused to even say "I'm sorry" for what happened was the final nail in the coffin. And also while I'm ranting - how funny is it that I'm not the only one ranting about Midas on this site? You can bet that if my car was SET ON FIRE I'd be really upset. I'm getting emails from someone PRETENDING to be from Midas corporate being a smart a*s with his "solutions". So unless you were THERE you don't KNOW what happened. Wouldn't someone be upset if their car was botched on a single repair not once but TWICE? What was I supposed to do- drive in there and accidentally knock over some equipment in their lot because my brakes weren't working right, walk up to the counter and say, "Excuse me, there appears to be a problem with my car again?" Give me a break!

WOW get rid of a lunatic

You have a problem with your car and the most adult thing you can do is to try to show your a*s in their business. What if someone came into your office and started yelling at you in front of your peers. I bet youd be ready to kick his a*s. The amazing thing is they that they did the professional thing and took care of the problem quickly but then again i guess i would try to get rid of a lunatic quickly also.

Steve- I'm the original author and I must thank you for trivializing my situation, particularly pretending to be Midas corporate (which if it isn't illegal, should be). Tell me, if I have no reason for being upset, mayne it's because I had to take it back not once but TWICE? That by not bleeding my brakes (which any shop with half a clue would have done) they put my LIFE in danger? That they were in denial about the most obvious fix to the problem? I'll take options 1,2,4,5, and 6 Steve, but only if they put you in the deal on #6.

Dear Daniel As a result of your treatment, Corporate has done the following

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 19, 2006

I spoke with Midas Corporate.

As a result of your treatment, Corporate has done the following:

1. The fired the Manager
2. They crucified the mechanic
3. They will refund triple your bill.
4. They burned down the building.
5. They will have Midas leave the auto repair business and
6. The Officers and Directors of Midas will all commit suicide on national television.

Is that sufficient for you, or do you want more from them?

Jeeezus, they fixed the problem promptly, what else do you require?
