On 12-14-03 I purchased a lifetime lube-oil plus contract from above service store.

They also had a provision where you could transfer to another car when you sold that car and bought another one. I purchased a new car and called them today (12-5-09) for service on my new car. They advised that they would no longer honor the contract. I would have to pay full price for any future oil changes. The reason they gave was it was too costly.

lifetime oil program issues

AUTHOR: lakewood - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, January 11, 2010

As you were informed when you inquired about the service, the previous franchise owner did not have authorization from Midas International to sell the lifetime oil service and if you were in the store you would have been given a letter from the new Franchisee. Doing so the previous owner went outside the box of franchise agreements and the new owner is not obligated to provide that service. Any other Midas parts such as brake pads/shoes,mufflers,shocks/struts will still have the Midas guarantee. As with many customers they feel slighted when we inform them the Franchisee' that sold them the program did not comply with Midas guidelines. The new owner has agreed to provide 4 lof services, equivelant to the original cost, but will not transfer the service to a new vehicle. This was done after a management meeting will all of the franchise managers input to the situation.

Midas lifetime oil change

AUTHOR: Mike - (United States of America)

Well I guess the reason that they could give is that they have a new owner-manager. So they don't have to comply with the old contract with the old owner.

Discontinue of lifetime oil change

AUTHOR: Mike - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, December 12, 2009

No, the reason the Manager gave me for the discontinue of the lifetime service was: They ended the whole program, for everyone. It didn't matter what size eingine you had or anything. One thing I did do was have all my service done at this service location to show good faith so an to not just take the oil changes and run. I had brakes done and tuneups and all. I just spent over $700. on a 60,000 mile tune up.

Your service contract probably had an engine size stipulation. IS it the same size motor?
