I saw Mobil 1 Lube Express on Lyndon Lane had a special going on so I pulled in to have my oil changed. Eveything was fine.  It took about 15 minutes and I pulled out to the edge of the road and was ready to pull out and come home when a Mobil 1 technician walked up and said to me that I was leaking anti-freeze and that I should pull back around to see what was happening.  So I did.

There were two technicians looking at my car.  The one who caused the problem and another guy.  There was anti-freeze pouring out from the bottom of my car and anti-freeze was also leaking into the car on the passenger side.  One technician said all he did was take the bottom of my glove box off and another small panel cover off to find a HVAC filter.  He continued to say he felt all around in that area and could not find it. He put the panel cover and the glove box back and I was ready to leave.

This is when I was informed that there was a leak.  This leak just happened to be in the very same area where the technician was looking for the HVAC filter.  He busted a seal causing the abti-freeze to leak and now since it is a hoilday weekend I have to wait three whole days to get it fixed.  This is a great inconvenience to me.

After further diaganosis from the dealership

AUTHOR: Mobil 1 Lube Express of Louisville - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, June 30, 2012

The vehicle was taken to the dealer of the customer's choice. The technician from the dealership stated the heater core was bad and started to leak. The leak was because of a faulty heater core and the technician cant even get to the heater core nor break it. At worst the technician helped discover the problem before it ruined the interior and the engine.

We feel bad for the customer for the circumstances, and accomidated him as much as possible, but the Mazda dealer stated it was not the fault of the shop and the technician could not be blamed for a bad heater core.

Rent a car, keep your reciepts..make them pay

It's always best to get something like this documented before you leave the property. Get a police report if they refuse to accept responsibility.

Keep in mind that in these types of places, you are most likely not dealing with qualified mechanics, and most of them don't really qualify to be called "technicians" as that iplies they have some level of technical training or experience. Usually that is not the case. These people are hired off the street with little or no experience and paid accordingly, usually at or near minimum wage.

A monkey can change oil and filters, light bulbs, etc.

Rent a car equal to the car you own, and keep a record of your expenses.

Have your car towed to a qualified mechanic, at a licensed repair facility to have the problem diagnosed properly, and get a statement of the suspected cause. Get this in writing.

File a claim against the insurance of the shop that did the prior service and damage.

Don't let them lo ball you, or deny responsibility. Let them know that you are willing and fully prepared to take them to court.

Good luck!

I do all my own work, but any time I have ever gotten lazy if I take it for an oil change I make sure that is all I get.Other wise you leave yourselve open for alot of ugly possibilties, such as your car needs this and it needs that when it really don't.But anyway the guy admitted he was under there so they should fix it right?
