I applied for a loan to get a mobile home. They agreed to a loan for $50,000. I didn't find a mobile home immediately, so I wrote them a letter requesting my deposit back. I received no answer. I am still trying to get my money back. I will not stop. My personal contact by phone was Michael Murray. His phone: 913-747-1117 Fax: 913-747-1120.

My husband and I too have been scammed by MTM. I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything regarding Randy, Todd, Darcie or their mother? I hope they are getting what the deserve and more.

Who Really Is Jeff?

I have had a really rotton if not down right disgusting experience with Money Tree. They left me homeless. Like out in the street homeless. After only 2 attempts to get financing with other sources after Money Tree ripped me off, I was able to move my family into our new home with the help from a local lender, no thanks to Money Tree. What has this got to do with Jeff? I asked approximately 15 or so lenders and brokers after I got my loan, just out of curiosity, if they charged a loan application fee. Guess what? None of them did!
It was the majority of their opinions that it was their job to beat out the competition, to get your business and the first thing they didn't want to do is scare you off by having to pay them a fee of any amount. So Jeff, who do you really work for? Sounds like to me you might just work for Money Tree and you are trying to justify their lowlife position. I just hope that all the good people who got the shaft by MTM get their day in court. But, my bet is they go bankrupt or something and laugh all the way to the bank with our money. I got a feeling though. The Man upstairs, He will take care of them...one way or another.

It's not uncommon to pay an application fee

Certainly $300 is not an unacceptable figure for an application fee. I own a mortgage company in Missouri.
We have expenses that we undertake during the application process. Credit reports, etc. When you purchase a home, the application fee is credited to you at closing. However, if you decide not to purchase, or close with another lender, we have still expended our time and resources and we need to be compensated for that.
Having said that, i know there are lenders who charge much more than $300 and that is probably uncalled for. $300 is fair, however.
