Monitronics International, Inc can not cancel due to auto-renewal clause Dallas Texas

I too got F**Ked by the Monitronics auto-renewal clause, and ended up paying for several months of "service" past my first written letter of cancellation.

As with most other people, they lost my first written letter of cancellation (which seems to be standard practice with them), and kept on billing me. Every month I would call the 800 number on the bill and tell them I cancelled the service. Each time I would get a different person with a different answer.

After trying to get me to sign up again, they would always transfer the call to the "Account Resolution Department". Imagine, the have a whole department set up to handel this SPECIFIC situation.

They did tell me that they received the second written letter of cancellation that I sent them, but had no record of the first. The second letter was received on April 29, 2004. Then sent me a letter offering to close the account if I sent in "the remaining payoff balance", if sent in within 30 day of the date on that letter (otherwise this "offer" would be null and void).

I called back and talked to a supervisor in their Account Resolution Department. He then explained (for the first time) about the annual auto-renewal agreement and this letter was them being nice to me and allowing me out of the contract early. That would amount to about three months. I told him that the service was fraudulently marketed, and he told me that I should talk to National Home Security, who marketed it to me. I guess marketing the service through a third party is a way of blaming some else and not be nailed with FRAUD.

I asked to get all of this discussion in writing and he said he would not. I asked to get a written letter saying that he would not send a written letter. He said no. I asked to speak to his supervisor, he said no.

So the bottom line is this, if you sign up with this, or probably any other company with low moral values and no business ethics, expect to get ripped off. Don't sign any contract without first reading the fine print, and have it reviewed by an attorney who does contract law, if possible.

When dealing with liars and cheats, you too will get F**Ked, and not even kissed!
