Mortgage Protection Group sent me a letter soliciting my business.  I contacted them and we set up an appointment to meet.  After talking to them at length, I paid them $5,500 on 6-21-2010 for a principal mortgage reduction plan (loan modification).  I was told the plan would take six months, but was assured that action would be taken by December of 2010.  Connie Stevens promised me that if I did not qualify for the program, I would get my deposit back in full.

I did receive monthly updates from Addvent Funding (a parent company) telling me to be patient.  Just over six months after the agreement was initiated, I received a letter stating that MPG was declaring bankruptcy.  I immediately contacted my credit card company, but because my transaction had just passed the six month mark, I was stuck.  After that I contacted the Arizona Attorney General's Office. That office told me that legal action would not be appropriate because this company had stopped doing business in Arizona and had filed for bankruptcy protection.  The last email I received from Addvent Funding was dated 1-28-11.

I am a single parent with perfect credit.  I have a second mortgage, but my mortgage payments are, and always have been, current.  MPG promised me that my second mortgage would be completely forgiven and my first mortgage payment would be reduced.  I was purposely preyed upon and mislead.
I see I was not the only one.
