I bought a truck from Mtn. View that has a faulty standard shift gear box (transmission). While test driving and there-after I complained that the gear does not engage properly.

The salesman quickly and smartly told me that the problem was mine. I responded that it was not me but the vehicle has a fault in the gear box. That I have been driving shift for over 30 years.

At a point, I asked the salesman another question, that he could not evade but tell the truth. That, as low as the price is on this truck, why is it that they have not sold it all this while. This is when he frankly told us that everyone who test drove it has been having difficulty with the shifting of the gear.

That told it all. And this confirmed that they knew about the transmission problem. In addition to this, I drove the truck for about an hour and the gear box got jammed up and could not engage anymore.

Then I called them about this problem and the salesman asked me to make a u-turn and come back to them so they can fix it by their mechanic. I told him that I was too close to home and it would be too much a problem for me to go back there.

At the end, their big boss (Jay) advised me to fix the problem and send them the receipt for reemburse-ment. I did so, but to my surprise, I was only given half the cost of it. But that was not it because the repairs was not satisfactory.

I still have a problem I told the mechanics at dodge dealers in Douglasville, called afterwards but Mr. Jay Standefar refused to comply with their obligation.

Now I am still stock with the undisclosed problem. Please help me resolve this problem.

Thank You.

i am the salesman who delt with this customer. when he came in to test drive truck he brought HIS OWN MECHANIC to inspect the truck. nothing was ever said about any problem with truck. he only wanted to try to talk me down in price. truck was bought as-is no warranty because of high miles, customer was told this and signed off for no warranty. he also told me truck was for his business and was going to be used as a delivery truck.  he called a few days after he bought it and told me clutch was out.

we agreed to replace clutch if he would bring it to our service dept. he refused. he wanted chrysler dealership to do repairs. the dealership said transmission was fine and only needed a clutch. we agreed to pay half and did. now he calls us after over a month and tells us transmission is out.  we don't feel like we owe this customer anything. check cars.com we are a 5star dealer and try to do whats right but this customer bought a high mile truck with no warranty and using it for delivery truck. we are not responsible. we hate it for him but he bought it knowing it was sold as-is no warranty.
