Imposed a notice on my pc saying that since I didn't cancel during the 3 day free trial, I am legally liable to pay for a subscription. They also threaten to ruin my credit rating. This should be illegal.

In fact, I never sign up nor did I ever hear of them. They have also impaired my keyboard. I can't backspace and use certain letters. Consequently, I can't use my pc. They can do this??

More for "Legal"...or should I say ANDREA?

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, April 03, 2006

Here is a quote by "Movieland" in response to the Consumer Affairs investigation:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

In its unsigned statement objecting to ConsumerAffairs.Com's reports, Movieland concluded:

We require you to retract or remove this article immediately. We remain hopeful that this matter can be resolved without filing suit against you for libel, tortious interference with contract, intentional interference with prospective economic advantage, and violation of California Civil Code Section 17200.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Not Forthcoming
When contacted last week by ConsumerAffairs.Com for comments on why their programs were causing users so much trouble, Movieland claimed it would only address the matter with customers.

A person who identified herself as Andrea, a customer service representative, said, "You need to be a customer and have a customer ID to get help from customer service."

And of course, in order to get a customer ID, a user has to download the service and agree to the terms and conditions, including the regular monthly charges.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

As far as Movieland itself, the site's parent company is advertised as both Digital Enterprises and Integrated Enteprises, reportedly based in southern California. The company's statement did not include any information on the company's headquarters or officers.

There is much more to come....

#2 UPDATE Employee

Keyboard Issues

AUTHOR: Legal - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, March 31, 2006

Stanley:

We assure you that Movieland is not disabling your keyboard in anyway. The trouble you are describing appears to be the result of crumbs or other foreign substance in your keyboard.

You may want to try to hold your keyboard with the keys facing the ground and shake it. You may find that a paperclip and/or other debris will fall out. If this does not solve your problem you may want to purchase an inexpensive can of pressurized air which can be sprayed between the keys to blow out any dust or particles. The keys themselves can also be pried off so that you can see below them and discover what is interfering.

The MediaPipe software is actually used to rapidly download and play large media files. It must be manually downloaded through multiple steps -- if you did not download it then somebody else with access to your computer has. You can learn more at www.movieland.com. If you are not satisfied with the product please contact customer service through the links at our web page.

MovieLand uses the services of MediaPipe to operate thier scam, but are not affiliated with them.

This comes from the MediaPipe website forums section.
