Moving On Up, a moving company promised 3 men at 85 dollars and hr. 3hr. min. and 80 truck fee. Only 2 showed up. They did not disclose to me that when they wrapped a blanket and tape around curio cabinet that it would cost 80 dollars extra. They then charged 160 for the truck and only took off 5 dollars and hr for the missing 3rd person.

I didn't find out until we got to the destination and they refused to unload the truck until I signed the paper agreeing to the new charges. I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. They held my property hostage and argued with them for about 1/2 hour until I finally agreed because I was paying over a dollar a minute. The more I would argue the more it would cost.

The man in charge was rude. He refused to tell me the rebate for the missing man. Did not disclose to me that putting a blanket and tape around the cabinet that it would cost 80 dollars extra. He then wanted a tip because he said they they only get min. wage. He asked for a cigarette I told him they were on the counter took the whole pack.

When I called and complained about the over charges. They would never return my calls. Finally I got a hold of the manager and he was also rude and agreed to refund only 70 dollars. He never even did that!...  (I think the head delivery guy and the manager are one in the same.  Same foreign accent)

THEY ARE A RIP OFF COMPANY BEWARE!!!!!!! They sell you 3 men for 85 an hour then switch you to 2 and only take off 5 dollars. Over charge for wrapping items.  Don't let you know until you are at your destination.  Then hold your property hostage until you sign for new charges.......

LIES LIES LIES AND NOW I CAN PROVE IN COURT!!!!!

AUTHOR: CHRISTINE - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, February 24, 2011

I have saved and printed "moving on up 's" rebuttal.  When I replied last night I only read their
headline.  Did not see the whole report.  I will go part by part.  MOU will refer to moving on up and it's employees

1.  The only reason I went with MOU is that they offered 3 guy for 85 dollars and they outbid any other moving company.  Common sense.........When being charged by the hour who would in their right mind would preferr 2 men for 80 instead of 3 men for 85???????  You know right there they are lying.   I can't believe this big MADE UP STORY that they contrived.   They must have to hire amateur story writers.  If they say this in court I can prove they are lying and maybe they will get busted for perjury.  "a felony"

2.  My contact person was Anthony.....not a woman.   Let me quote them here:
"She said that it is $80.00 for 2 movers, $85.00 for 3 movers, and $95.00 for 4 movers. This client said she would not need more than 2 movers"
They never quoted me the prices.  I have the quote in an e-mail.   I still have all e-mails.  With Anthony as contact person!!!!!!!  85 for 3 MEN!!!!!!!!  When they got to starting address I asked where the third man was.  They said he called in sick.  He said my hourly rate will be rebated to reflect loss of the third man.  I asked by how much?  HE DIDN'T KNOW!!!!!!!!!  I truly believe NOW I was talking to the owner/manager/head delivery guy.

3.  There was no packing needed.  It was all furniture.   No boxes.   I was acting as the third man.   I was carrying all I could down to the truck.   I carried things so the move would be quicker and cost less!  When I came back up the curio was covered with a blanket and tape.  I asked why are they doing that.  They said since it is glass they will not move it unless it is covered.   The cabinet was all wood except for the door.  I told them when it was moved here the movers took the door off and it is relatively easy and i can put the door in my car.
I asked them the price and THEY DIDN'T KNOW.  Guess they were both rookies and had no idea of the prices.   They would have to call head quarters.  In the mean time I am trying to move as quickly as possible.

4.  Yes, there was damage.   I noticed after the delivery.   However, just calling about the over charges and not being able to get satisfaction there, I would probably not have success with the scratches, dents and the tare up the side of the my sealy 2000 dollar king size mattress.

5.  When we got to the destination the young black guy (who I felt sorry for he was very nice) stayed outside and the (foriegn accented owner/head delivery guy) came in and
miracuosly knew the charges for the curio, the rebate for the missing man and added another 80 dollars for the truck fee.   He would not move my furniture into the house until I signed for the new charges.
I argue with him and complained.  He called or pretended to call the head quarters. In the mean time I am paying by the hour.  To be exact  1.33 a minute.

6.  Wrong again.   They came on the day appointed and on time.   I had another 10 days to move.
Again SUCH LIARS.   I can't believe the B.S.   Wow,  never in my life dealt with such a DECEPTIVE COMPANY.  If you look up MOV's info and licensing you will see they only have one truck registered in Florida.   Never asked for an EXCEPTION.  Had plenty of time left to move.  If this company put as much of its energy into dealing fairly with clients as it does in being DECEPTIVE!!!!.  They would probably make a pretty good profit on the up and up.

7.  They didn't rent a truck!   They brought their one and only truck they own on the day of service.  Had "moving on up" in green letters.   Wow,  WHAT WEBS WE WEAVE!!!!!!!!
In fact I had two condos to move the furniture out of and used another company in which I was well pleased his name is Jeffrey Ronca Delivery and Transport his number is 727-580-3965.  He only is local however but totally awesome priced right and the man to call. I found him because I was going to use MOV for both moves but MOV couldn't accomodate the first move.  When I called MOV to tell them I did not need their services MOV told me that they would not refund the deposit........sooooo, I had Jeff move most of the stuff and left about 3 hrs of work for the MOV to move.  I will be reporting MOV to the Dept.. of Argiculture and Consumer Services next........   And considering taking them to court!!!!!!!    MOV MESSED WITH THE WRONG PERSON!!!!!!!!

8.  The foreign speaking guy SMOKES.   I had a carton of Marlboro Ultra lights on the counter along with an open pack of cigarettes, he (the head delivery guy foreigner) asked for a cigarette I told  them they are on the counter and he took a whole unopened pack and put them in his pocket in front of my very eyes!!!!!!!!!

9.  They never told me a number to call to reach a claims department!!!!!!  NOR DID THEY PUT this SO-CALLED CLAIMS NUMBER in their rebuttal!!!!!!!!!!!!   The girl kept taking messages said I would receive a call and never did.   CALLED AND CALLED AND CALLED TO NO AVAIL.  Finally on the LAST CALL.  I got the so called manager  (same foreign accented guy I believe who was head delivery guy)  He told me he would refund 70 dollars.......NEVER RECEIVED.  Their hundreds and thousands of SO-CALLED satisfied customers are ficticious as their rebuttal.!!!!!

10.  Check out and do research!   THEIR BBB HAS BEEN REVOKED ON 10/28/2010.

11.  Just to let MOV KNOW!!!!!  This is just the beginning of my campaign to inform all possible future clients of the nightmare they will be hiring if the go with MOVING ON UP!!!!!!!!!

We aim to provide top quality service to all our clients and we are shocked by this report.

AUTHOR: Moving On Up - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 23, 2011

We are shocked by this report as we have high standards and many satisfied clients. Prior to booking this client for a move, our sales representative told this customer the pricing for the number of movers. She said that it is $80.00 for 2 movers, $85.00 for 3 movers, and $95.00 for 4 movers. This client said she would not need more than 2 movers. Our sales representative told her that it is only $5.00 for an extra mover and that it would save her money in the long run. Son finally, the customer said that she would be ok with 3 movers. After booking the job and confirming the details, this client said she would only need two movers. That was what was put on the order sheet and we sent out two movers. We do have a 3 Hour minimum to cover our costs even though, most companies have a four hour minimum.
Apparently their has been a misunderstanding in finalizing the order on the clients part. Our sales representatives write down all of the requests of the customer and clearly, she ordered 2 men, changed her mind to 3 men and then changed her mind again to two men. We sent out the number of men that was on the order form.

Also, prior to booking with us, we informed the client that the price includes loading, unloading, tax, fuel, millage, and the basic insurance. Should she require packing materials it would be extra. In addition to telling her that, we sent her an e-mailed confirmation saying the same thing. She agreed to all the terms prior to booking and while moving. We had no hidden charges as we were very upfront with the moving process and the cost. We wrapped and packed whatever she told us to wrap and pack. We told her the price ahead of time and she agreed to it otherwise, we would have never used our packing materials to ensure her belongings safety. We do what the customer requests to keep them satisfied. As far as we knew, this client was very satisfied that we handled her belongings with the proper care it deserves. We did not damage a thing.

Once our movers got to destination, it was a different story. The client was being rude to our movers. Our movers had to call the head office to get instruction on how to deal with her and the situation. The reason our movers refused to unload her belongings was because she refused to pay. She was upset about the cost of the truck. When she booked her move with us, she knew that we were fully booked and were not able to accommodate her on the day she wanted to move. She asked if we can make an exception, and we told her that we couldn’t cause all our trucks are spoken for and booked. We ended up making an exception because we wanted to please this client. We ended up renting a truck so we can accommodate her with her move. We had no choice but to pass the cost down to her since she insisted on being moved that date. We informed her of this cost upfront! but at destination she refused to pay.  Because of her bad attitude, we were scared that if we had unloaded the truck, she would not pay and we would have had no recourse. So we insisted she pay prior to us unloading the truck to we ensure that we at least cover our hard days work and costs. We do not think it was an unreasonable request under the circumstances we were placed it. Even McDonalds makes you pay before you get their yummy fattening food. None of the charges we required her to pay were new, they were the charges for things she requested and were disclosed upfront.
Like I said, our moving company has very high standards. We do whatever it takes to make our clients satisfied. Our movers are very polite and are not permitted to ask for a tip. We have strict policies about that. Our movers do not get minimum wage, we pay our movers very well so they treat our customers very well because if they don't, they will loose their job. Our movers are also not permitted to smoke on the job and if they do it is cause for immediate dismissal. In fact, neither one of those movers smoke. It is possible that this client misplaced her cigarettes or that it is packed it a box somewhere.
When this client called us to complain we told her to contact our claims department and that they will take care of everything. she refused and was being difficult. We told her that if she was entitled to any form of compensation, we had no problem paying it but she would still have to go through our claims department and follow proper protocol. She has still not contacted our claims department. We would like to do anything in our power to satisfy her. We are not satisfied until she is. We aim to satisfy all our clients and we have hundreds of thousands of many satisfied clients.

Have her contact our claims department so we can add her to one of our many satisfied clients. We apologize for any inconveniences this client may have experienced as a result of her move.
